I recently spoke to two different Qantas customer service persons on the platinum phone line and was asking about row 23 as it is always greyed out for me.

The first lady put me into that row and said that it should not be greyed out it should be available for WP P1 and CL "they all get the same seat selection".

The second lady at Qantas who I called about another booking told me that P1 and CL have first choice of row 23 and that I am better of trying the day before, which actually seemed to make more sense to me.

BTW the flights I am referring to were on 767 BNE-PER

Can anyone confirm which is correct please?

The latter response, is in my experience, correct in domestic. Generally can select 23 on 767 at T-80 if the seat is available on domestic.

Never had a problem getting row 4 (738) trans-Tasman though straight after booking (or the front row when they used to fly the A330 there on 141).

Yes the latter response is correct.

As a WP I couldnt access the first 2 rows of whY. The day after my P1 status was confirmed I could then select from the first two rows (unless a seat was of course already taken). I have only been further back than row 1 when I have changed flights or there has been a late aircraft change.

The front row of whY is not blocked on int'l flights.

International is quite different in terms of seat blocks etc

Okay, thanks for the replies.;)

It was mentioned that Int is different? I have a Perth Singapore flight next month and the first few rows of it are also blocked in Y.

Is there more leg room on the A330-300 in the front row Y and when might I expect it to open up?

Same as usual, T-80

By different, I meant in terms of number of seats blocked. I can get far further forward on any international sector on any given aircraft than on a domestic sector with that same aircraft (before T-80)

...
IME, I can generally access the front rows in economy of international flights as a WP - however I do generally book my flights at least 6 months out.

Aside from the Bassinet positions, the other seats may be pre-allocated. What flight - if you have E/F you can check yourself, or post a query here:

Will have a look, thanks for the advice.

Edit: It is an A330-200 couple of questions about this, does row 24 have leg room?

According to Seatguru they have limited leg room and if that is the case is it less than a standard seat?

And also, is there a way to tell what "version" you are on? QF says it is an A330-200 but on seat guru there is a version 1 or 2? Have seen the same for the 767's is there a way to tell what you are on prior to flying?

Have a look on the seat map on Expertflyer - look at both whY and J and that will give you an indication.

Generally the first 2 rows are only available to Platinum One and Chairmans Lounge up until T-80hours.

But in my experience there are times the first 2 rows do not open up at T-80 hours and even at OLCI still blocked. Happened to me this week for today's flight. Stuck in 23J until about 3:00 hours before flight where I moved to 23J.

Domestic or International?

Do the middle seats 24 etc have legroom as well?
