Hi all this may sound a little wanky , and is definitely first world. We are flying to Jordan and Egypt on Etihad in First on the 18[SUP]th[/SUP] of this month, it’s the first time I have traveled with them, I have had a look at the Air New Zealand lounge and must say dose not look that good.

Now here is my question I'm Cathy Pacific Diamond, I was thinking of booking a one-way flight on QF to NZ in economy my understanding is that I would be able to use the Qantas First lounge and Guest She who Must Be obeyed.

Can I do this the cost of the ticket is only $300 and I can enjoy a nice meal and good wine with the boss, before we head to Jordan

Would you do it and will it work?

Seems a bit expensive. What about a JQ flight to SYD on the same day?

I'm not sure about the technicalities of doing a no show for the flight. I guess they could try kicking you out of the lounge once the dummy flight departs.

If I understand your proposal correctly you intend to buy a flight to NZ at the same time as your EY one, check in for both, use the QF lounge and only get on the EY flight. This will cause significant problems because when you clear immigration your boarding pass is checked for your departing flight and even if you don't show one, you would have checked in for both and this will set alarm bells ringing, either at immigration or when QF come looking for you.

The F lounge is nice but $150pp is a lot of money you could spend at say Cafe Vue.

I would never do that. I'd much rather put $300 towards going out to a nice restaurant. Not to mention the issues that it'll likely cause with immigration.

If it's anything like the Air NZ lounge in SYD, it's a perfectly fine way to relax before your flight.

I had not thought about how it may impact security eastflyer, as for the price well a bottle of Tattinger Comtes De Champagne 1999 and a duck Curry should cover the cost, you do bring up a good point.

Total waste of time doing what you propose, given the F lounge will not even be open at the time the EY flight leaves.

I don't know what F lounge you're referring to, but I've certainly never seen Taittinger Comtes De Champagne in any QF lounge :)

i had Comtes De Champagne on the last trip to london June last year, my be i had it on the plane and did enjoy it.

It looks like its all to hard and as i stated a wank but it was a thought will just have to enjoy the wine list on the plane.:)

No just take the misses out to a fancy meal the night before and lower her trip expectations, I mean Jordan is more spiritual than flash and I'm sure you'll have a great time!!

Most SWMBOs I know (unless they're AFF members) would happily while away the time amongst the duty-free gauntlet, with any thoughts of a lounge lying beyond merely afterthoughts. :p

I'm sure it will quickly be a distant memory once ensconced in your F seats.

Enjoy your trip.

Thank you for that and that is why i asked the question. it was just a thought. I think we all like the idea of enjoying the first lounge when ever we can. lets face it we have people on here who do a first class run just so they can spend 3 hr in the first lounge:D

Yes great advice Sprucegoose, It's such a late flight may just take the good Dr to Dinner on the night we depart, and arrive for the flight just on time, i was hoping to do the degustation meal on the flight but i think i will just sleep my way to Abu Dhabi.

Yes true but if you talk wine with the waiter in the Sydney First lounge, he will bring out some vintage. I had a glass of Rockford Basket Press last time i was there and i glass of bollinger grande annee just smile a lot and talk about wine as if you know something about it LOL:shock: although on that note, i have never seen Grange on any flight in first but it is in there wine list, must be poured for the Pope only.
Was going to say... it's all NV in there :p

It's not just wine... I recently discovered a whole range of Scotch Whiskeys available in Melbourne, if you start to talk.

It's what's available "off menu" that makes the QF/Sofitel First Lounges interesting.
