To make it worse, I dropped from Gold to Silver last year, and as part of the re-qualification, I'm sitting on 690 SC, 10SC short of 700SC which will be wiped out end of month. I've factored in the 10SC from BP rewards link, so that is out and flying is not on (despite having to cancel a few work trips last month that would have had me there)..

One thing I've had clarified is that at the end of the year (mind in April as discussed), you SC do not get wiped out for the year, i.e I have another 12 months to get my remaining 10 SC's to qualify for gold, and now with Points Club I can use Points to book some flights if none come through via work.

Also, the Qantas wine 1000 points come through overnight, so the thrill of the chase is over, I'm Points Club Plus which is unlikely to benefit me much at all.

Oh wow - could you please post back after 1st May to confirm that's definitely the case?

I flew ~1000 SC towards retaining plat this year (June) and was thinking there's no way I'd manage to retain next year, but if all I need is another 200SC by June 2021 that will change things very significantly.

Seems to contracdict what Qantas have previously said, strange.

I will indeed. I've only received the word from an operator (likely overseas) that was the case after asking for a leniency being 10SC short. I got the spiel about my Silver being extended and mentioned I had already re-qualified for Silver so it didn't help me much. Will see what happens,

Whilst I haven't read a lot of threads here lately, I'm unsure whether it has been discussed elsewhere. If it has I'll also post in that thread if somebody lets me know.

Whilst travelling is likely restricted for a while, let's say a domestic flight was had in say July, effectively means 21 months of Gold Status, which again is a little ho-hum in this climate with the exception of better chance for award seats a whiles away down the track.

I'm in a very similar situation to you. I have 680 status credit's and my status expires at the end of this month, I've already got the 10 SC from BP. I'm really hoping they don't wipe them out, I called up for leniency and told it was a no go :-(

I’ve probably missed the bit that says from where you would depart. A same day return in Y should do it. Can you find a Route that does not (preferably) involve hotel quarantine, or similar?. Keep within your home state may be best. Or have I misunderstood this somehow?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Melbourne to Sydney should do it (depart Melbourne)

I've been long pondering this since the QFF Portal states I have until August 2021 to attain WP1 - this infers that SCs won't get wiped at the end of the current membership year (in my case, obviously August 31).

Of course, could easily be your typical QFIT glitch!!

Regards,

BD

Not sure if this is helpful as a data point but my membership year ended 31 March 2020. I was gold for the year and due to COVID had my status extended to 31 March 2021. I had 540 status credits as at 31 March and now have 0 status credits. Gold status maintained until 31 March 2021.

Our year ends on 30 April too. MrP had requalified so the extension didn't really assist him much. So theoretically if this is true he will be WP to End April 2022. Will report back around 5th.

And like that the hope is dashed. 😂

Sounds like the operator for the OP didn't know what they were talking about based on this evidence.

I wonder if there was confusion between your annual tally versus lifetime tally.

Can't imagine this is anything other than a mistake.

But if not and if international flying resumes soon I'd suggest QF start panic buying high end Champagne for the Christmas 2021 P1 presents.

Are you sure about this? My membership year ended in March (the first month during which QF extended everyone's status by 12 months due to coronavirus) and my status credits were reset to zero at the start of April.

I'm only going off what the Operator advised me. I'll find out in a few days time.

As mentioned in another thread, this is also what happened to me. My membership year ended on 31 March and status credits were reset to zero at the beginning of April.

I hope that I'm wrong, but I think that the OP was told incorrect information by the Qantas contact centre. It certainly wouldn't be the first time - Incorrect information you've been given by Qantas Contact Centre

I suspect the call centre got confused by the extension of status, and how that actually works.

I called up the call center again. They apologized for giving dud information. Stranded on 690 and wiped in 2 days.

Totally crazy that someone whose year ended in March, and hence virtually unscathed in status terms by corona, can earn 0 and get free status extension.

Yet someone who earns 98% of the requirement is denied the upgrade.
