Cabin Crew. Is it normal / acceptable or theft ?

A few months ago flying Virgin in business a cabin crew member grabbed their bag, closed the curtain and could hear the fridge door open and then a few minutes later opened the curtain and put their bag back into the compartment.
I wasn’t going to post anything at the time.
However, I just got off a flight and during boarding the crew were openly talking about taking alcohol off the flight on arrival. To the point you could hear the sparkling wine bottle pop and then they would come out carrying a tray of take away cups which went to economy. This happened twice with probably 10 cups being taken to most likely friends in economy.

Most people work in offices and yes we probably print a few personal things etc.

But is this actually acceptable? Mainly in front of business class passengers ?

Not to nay-say your point, but opening a bottle of sparkling doesn't appear to be related to nicking a bottle off the flight. Taking cups of it down the back MAY have been to status pax down there. Although maybe unlikely (given the numbers), I'd hand down a verdict of "not proven" on that one. :)

The first, I'm afraid also "not proven" given that the curtain was closed.

But not a good look in aggregate.

Once sparkling is open I suspect it would be hard to take it off the aircraft, even with a champagne stopper. The movement of the bottle would possibly pop the stopper out. If you can’t take it off the plane, might as well give it out if that’s what the company policy allows.

Same for taking half-finished bottles off at the end of the flight. The company SOP likely has rules around that.

We dunno what happened behind the galley curtain. Not that airplanes have fridges! But it’s possible the crew member was storing their lunch in the cold box, or whatever.
 
One is definitely not on.

Two could be elites, or fellow crew (which is a bit greyer).

Many airlines in J/ F internationally seem to have some discretion for surprise and delight where some elites are slipped a bottle, normally fairly discretely, of unused alcohol.

I guess crew can't even bring their own food, stow it in the fridge and put it back in their bag these days without getting accused of theft.
 
Personally, I couldn't give a toss if they do (if you'll pardon the expression).

In fact, I'd even be tempted to say good luck to them if they are. It's hardly the crime of the century and I reckon there's nobody here who hasn't done some equivalent deed at some time in their life.

But if they did, I just hope they're aware of the eleventh commandment ... 😏

A bit about food in this article. Anyway, don’t really care, I think I have at least a hundred bucks worth of work stationary supplies around my house. I recall when growing up my old folks would come home with half a ream paper in the backpack, pens, Texas, and all sorts of other misc work funded materials

 
Might explain why it was so hard to get top ups in business on my last couple of virgin flights.

I've noticed this lately too. Is there a new internal policy not to proactively top up a customer's drink?
 
I think it depends on the crew. Some are more proactive than others. Had great experiences last week flying between HBA snd BNE.
