I have not been to India for 3 years. When I was there, QF were still flying out of BOM. At check in, I had a rollaboard and small briefcase that I carry on in all other parts of the world. I was informed that this was not possible in India, it was a very strictly enforced 1 carry on piece only rule. Does anyone have any more recent experience? Thanks for the help.

I've been to India and returned, so I guess I can answer my own question now in case there is anyone out there interested.

The carry on luggage restrictions in India now seem to be in line with the rest of the world. No longer a strict 1 piece only policy. The part that hasn't changed is the need to have hand luggage tagged, stamped at x-ray and then checked multiple times before getting on board.
