Is anyone able to tell me if the cabanas in the wing lounge are in the first lounge or in the business lounge ? Can I access if I'm flying CX business ? Also do they need to be booked or will I be able to go into one whatever time I choose. We've got 6hrs before our next flight, so I don't have to rush in.
Thanks

F lounge only and not reservable AFAIK. Unless you have status there would be no access.

There are 5, first come first served.

Besides, the Day-Break Rooms in the Pier sound nicer, but they’re F only too.

If you have 6 hours then consider a town trip for some sightseeing!

The day break rooms are a bit of a let down really. All it is is a telly and a chair (arm chair to be fair). And a foot stool.

Not even a bed for sleeping.

I used one recently and you have no option but to sleep scrunched up in the chair - unless I missed something??

(And be careful not to hit the 'service' button accidentally - you cannot cancel the 'alarm' - well i worked out you can - by opening the door - but it still doesn't stop them checking to see if you are ok!)

Better than sleeping in a bathtub though?

Can't help but feel I've seen this question before somewhere in the past couple of days...

Yeah, we managed to get into town and into Tim Ho Wan in Mongkok during a five hour layover, with time to spare (on a week day arvo). Absolutely worth the trouble.

But if you are looking to kill time in an airport business class lounge, I recommend the Qantas J lounge - usually much quieter during the day than the CX lounges, with decent food, some comfortable couches, and dark enough to get some shut eye if you want. Just be aware that they don't call CX flights and you'll be fine. :)

(As for F Lounges though, another matter entirely - I agree with samh004, it's very easy to fall asleep in the cabana baths. Less easy on the daybeds in the cabanas, or the Wing couches, but possible. Harder still on the daybreak room chair. CX really need to start offering pillows in the lounges.)

I didnt mind the daybeds - I was less impressed with the showers than the daybeds - the best showers have to be the NRT AAdmirals lounge and the AA arrivals lounge at LHR.

I visited the QF J lounge during my last transit (I didnt think I had time to get to the F lounge) and walked straight out - it felt like a dungeon...

+1 on a trip to the Big Buddha.

Once you're back from it walk over to the outlets and fill up what little carry on you're allowed with some cheap shopping. :)

TBH I wasn't blown away by the "cabanas". Basically a room with a sunbed, frosted glass, and a small (~45cm wide) pond running through it. Relaxing I guess, but meh...nothing too special.

Cheers,
- Febs.

Yeah, this is a good idea. Also a visit to Tai O would be a good way to spend several hours. Tai O is a very different view on Hong Kong.

The cabanas are located in the CX Wing F Lounge.

They're nice havens to some degree, but in a sense it's just a big bathroom. It's linked by a tranquil "river" (so make sure you're not making a huge racket, otherwise the residents of the other cabanas will be able to hear you).

There's a decent shower, basin, decent sized bath tub, small cupboard (with a bathrobe IIRC), a recliner and a lie down area (rubber mattress). Practically, the recliner is OK to lie in, but the rubber mattress is just hard as heck unless you prefer to sleep on a bed as hard as a rock (seems to be the "norm" in HKG). I guess you could make it softer by asking for extra towels. I didn't know you could ask for a pillow (you can ask for a whole range of bathroom accessories - just use the cue card left next to the basin in the cabana).

As for the day rooms in the CX Pier F Lounge, they aren't all that special. Just a lounge chair with ottoman with a TV. You can order service into the room - not sure what you can order (I simply asked for drinks). There isn't even an office table and chair so you can actually do some decent work (cf. the private work suites in the QF F Lounges).

For those that need connectivity and work on the go, both the cabanas and day rooms do have power sockets and access to the wifi network. (For the cabanas, as much as it is unusual to use a computer in a bathroom, you will need to get low to the ground to access the power sockets).

Here are some pics. From the CX Wing F Lounge cabanas:

Looking into the cabana from the entrance. To your left are the toilet, shower then basin. To your right is the cupboard then bath. Out the door on the other end is the recliner and bed.

The river which connects the cabanas. Don't try walking in it, or you may get charged for being a pervert. And unless you want to be the noisy neighbour, refrain from making a racket.

The recliner in the cabana; it is also lined with the same rubber mattress that constitutes the bed. It is hard on the back.

And from the CX Pier F Lounge day rooms:

Chair and ottoman. You can also see the control panel which controls lighting, the TV and the service call button. The wall inset is for your little trinkets - drinks, snacks, etc.

Another view of the chair. It's a pretty low lying one; leather material, I think. Comfy-ish.

Nice try at cover-ups, serfty. :p

Don't have many more pics than that, but I didn't want to clog up two posts just to put pictures (thanks to the 6 images per post limit).
