Business Reward Seat Availability

Guys,

Wanted to book either SYD > LAX or BNE > LAX and use points to upgrade, and there wasn't one single business reward seat available from the 1st December - 23rd December (checked every day).

What's the chances of more seats being released?

I've checked right back to the end of October, is it really all taken this quickly? Bit annoying being Platinum and not able to use points...

Seats usually release around 11 months out. If you want peak period award tickets you'll need to be organised and book a long way ahead. If you want partner award space (eg Delta or Hawaiian trans pac) you need to call them to book it I think. SQ you can search online but will probably be more expensive. NZ is pretty much non existent.

Yes it is. Theres 3m VFF members and only 2 flights to the US per day

I've been following LAX business seat releases and my experience has benn they are taken within a day, especially out of sydney. Brisbane seats might last a few days. Sometimes you might get lucky and find one outside of those parameters. I must say though this is a very different experience from when I was booking LAX this time last year. There was excellent availability. Booked May for October travel in 2014 and was spoilt for choice. Things seem to have changed.

Yes it is. Theres 3m VFF members and only 2 flights to the US per day

I just read that Velocity has reached 5m members. Huge boost of sign ups from the recent BP deal has contributed.

Yet theres been no increase in award seats to keep up with the increase in members!

I think those extra signups from BP program will take a while to get enough points for redemptions earning 2 points per litre
