What are the bucket list restaurants that you wish to tick off. Maybe an AFF member can take one for the team on their travels and report their experience

Geranium, Copenhagen DK

3 Michelin

As soon as I got the SQ redemptions, I tried to get in but to no avail. All the waitlistings came to nothing

Recommended by a Sydney Chef friend. In his POV probably the best in Europe.

So if anyone is heading to CPH can you please try and get in.

We have already been to Geranium pre Covid. Definitely worth it. An Australian was a sous chef and had a chat with us, will try and locate the report.
As far as bucket list restaurants go we love Le Bernadin in New York. Have been 9 times and have Eric Ripert's book signed by him. He was a great friend of Anthony Bourdain.

So found the report-

had to refresh to get the photos.

Our biggies so far have been Noma and Le Bernardin.

Might think of more as we consider travel after the Teen is an adult/not always accompanying us on holidays! Or where we feel safe for the Teen to stay in the room without us.

One I have visited 25 years ago, and would like to go again, is the Jules Verne Restaurant.

It is halfway up the Eiffel Tower.

My memory was spectacular food, spectacular view.
As this thread has come up I thought I would update. I took my wife in 2024. She was horrified at the cost before we arrived. Afterwards she said it was well worth it for the experience

Ive been intrigued about Alchemist in Denmark

Don't know if it's worth the price.

With this thread reappearing I thought I should give my Australian bucket list restaurants. Starting with the Tasmanian restaurant where we celebrated our 50th Wedding Anniversary. Van Bone at Marion Bay. It was a magnificent lunch with several vegetable dishes where the main ingredient came from the restaurants garden. We just loved this. I was going to provide a link but found that it had closed early this year.

However the owners picked who they would sell to. The new owners are both experienced chefs and it already is getting good reviews. And the restaurant is already getting good reviews.

And the new website.

And this is my report on what you missed.

Botanic in Adelaide remains on my bucket list, even after two visits. I'm willing to wager it's the most exciting fine diner in Australia at the moment.

I'm in two minds whether the latest incarnation of Gaggan in Bangkok is on my list or not. We've eaten at one of the previous locations and versions and it was spectacular and daring. I am wondering if the current one is just a little bit too heavy on the audience participation!

Having eaten at every Simon Rogan restaurant in the uk, starting with Fera at the Connaught in the mid teens, we have followed his progress over the years to L’Enclume twice and others, we have booked the residency at Bathers Pavilion at end of July. Was surprised that there were places still available for lunch.

I'm glad both your experiences were good. Hubby and I went in 2018 and it was somewhat lacklustre to say the least. Even if you disregard the exorbitant cost. The food and coughtails were reminiscent of Brisbane suburban restaurant fare in the 80's which while fine were not what we expected from a "celebrity chef". And came complete with a visit from a mouse who ran under our table! The little bistro around the corner from our hotel on the Rue Saint-Honore was much nicer and a 5th of the price. The following week in London we dined at Heston's Dinner. Which absolutely knocked our socks off. At the time both restaurants had two Michelin stars. To us, the two experiences were on different planets. And Heston's was cheaper. If you want a good view of Paris, I recommend the Arc de Triomphe, that way you can see the Eiffel as well.

There are still places available for dinner...not surprising at $590 per head + automatic 10% service fee. No thanks...

My bucket list is pretty small:
- Gino’s, Bailgate near Lincoln Cathedral. The calzone I had on the few occasions I’ve been there was spectacular.
- Ice cream from Zanoni & Zanoni near Stephensdom Cathedral, Vienna.

I wouldn’t call either of them fine dining, which is fine by me. Don’t know why both are near impressive places of worship either. 🤷‍♂️

Im staying close to this road in a few months. A more specific location would be greatly appreciated.
Apologies, sadly looks like the bistro has since been replaced by an Italian restaurant Mar'co. On the upside you have picked a superb location. We spent a week at the Hotel Le Relais Saint-Honore and walked everywhere, only using the Metro to get to/from the SCNF and CDG. We walked to everything else, a cooking class at the Ritz, followed by a drink at Hemmingway's, Breakfast at Angelina's, and if you'd rather not tackle the behemoth that is the Louvre, check out the smaller but still spectacular museums close by, namely: Musee D'lorangerie, Musee Rodin, Musee D'orsay, Musee Picasso. Enjoy :)
