Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions for the best airline to use for Gold Coast/Brisbane to Goa next Feb. I am a Qantas frequent flyer so would like to get status credits but am open to the competition.

Sri Lankan used to fly there, but it seems no longer.

I think one of the easiest ways to give you an idea would be to use googleflights - with BNE or SYD for departure points, and see what options come back. And then pick from there based on cost and airline alliance.

CX or MH to BOM and then any number of carriers for the short hop to GOI?
MH gives you poor SC’s on the leg between Australia and KUL though.
GA often has decent prices from from Indonesia to BOM if you can get there

QF to Singapore. then Jet airways to BOM then GOI. should be able to book Jet thru QF. and interline all the way to GOI. let me know if u need further info as I travel there often.

The major downside of the jetairways flight SIN-BOM is that it's on a 737, which was a grueling 6.5 hours when I took it. Business class is sort of ok, fairly generous pitch (much more so than Qf's 737s, at least on the version of plane I was on), but economy was very tight. And packed to the rafters.

QF website showing the 330 for the SIN-BOM leg now, would definitely make it better. Interestingly enough just having a quick look it appears BNE-BOM with CX comes in about $1200 cheaper. Obviously longer flying time via HKG compared to SIN but I know what I’d rather

I'm not very good with all the abbreviations, can you clarify for me please jase05 ? Looks like Cathay Pacific to Hong Kong, then book Jet airlines with Qantas ?

Cathay Pacific do Brisbane to Mumbai via Hong Kong for around $4000 return. You would then need to just take the short hop from Mumbai to Goa. As blacksultan also said above you could go via Singapore with a combination of Qantas and Jet Airways

Oh yeah. I must have looked at the wrong flight pairing before. Shows as A330 for both flights now! That would make it more bearable

That’s bizarre. On the Jet website I had a quick look at a few random dates in Feb and both flights listed as A330’s

Sorry. I double checked after posting and it does seem to be 330s for both. Dunno what was going on before.

Oh - my mistake above was that I was looking at DEL rather than BOM. I did the DEL flight and it is a 737 in the evening. Worth noting for anyone considering taking that flight - avoid! (unless in business)

Just fyi one can also fly direct to DEL with Air India from MEL or SYD. DEL -GOI will be a small additional fare with AI.
Also the flights into DEL connect better with those to GOI. Most to BOM arrive at night with the earliest connexn to GOI in the morn.
You could also consider flying into Bengaluru which is kinda equidistant to GOI.

I would not step foot on AI again, even if the ticket was free, after taking 3 flights late last year
