This is a question for those who are familiar with the Brisbane domestic airport layout or just familiar with how this system works.
The Qantas website states that business class ticket-holders are entitled to bring along one guest into the lounge and the guest need not be travelling.
So the question is, how can the guest who won't be flying at all, get to the lounge in the first place without a boarding ticket?
Apologies if this question seems a bit silly.

You don't need a boarding pass to access the domestic terminal, so visitors may easily approach the different lounges

Nice. Thanks for that. Will have to make good use of the privileges, then.

The same way you pick up kids from the gate - they don't check BPs in domestic.

Never actually thought about picking up passengers from the gate.. only outside at the arrivals gate. But then again, I am almost always at the international terminal so maybe that's why. :)

Seriously our major domestic terminals are glorified shopping centres, ones which just happened to have security screening at the entrances and aeroplanes parked on the other side. The terminals are designed to entice none travellers (e.g. friends/family/colleagues who are meeting/farewelling travellers) into them, so that centre management (aka the airport owner) can make more money from the retailers, through higher sales volumes generated by increased foot traffic. (And I am not complaining, especially if that leads to lower landing fees on my tickets. In fact, I say - spend, spend, spend, you masses! It's probably also part of the reason why we enjoy efficient security processing at domestic terminals - don't want to turn away those none travellers, with dollars in their pockets, by having excessive queues delaying/deterring them from getting into the shopping centre!)

Only international termianls stop the riff-raff from entering, due to border control formalities, otherwise if they could find a way around it, then I'm sure they would let 'em in too - and increase air-side retail sales. (But major international terminals do tend to have more land-side retailers for this reason.)

My overseas friends always seem surprised by the system we have in Australia. In most other countries you need a boarding pass to proceed through the security checkpoint.
