Just after some advice from posters who frequent Brisbane regularly.
Heading up there on the 25th of this month for a function and was looking for some suggestions. I’m an Accor Platinum but haven’t stayed in Brisbane for some time and was after a hotel within walking distance of the CBD and South Bank if possible. If looked at several on the Accor site and the Sofitel stands out as it is near Brisbane Central train station. We arrive about 1930 into BNE and the Airtrain looks the best option. How close is the train station to the Sofitel or is a cab a better option?
Also interested in what the dining/breakfast is like at the Sofitel and if the club lounge is any good. The other option is possibly the Pullman. Any pros and cons of either.
Thanks

My vote is the Sofitel, Central Rail Station directly below via a few escalator rides. Club lounge is fine.

Sofitel is good. Direct lift from station to Sofitel (though can be a bit of a wait). Otherwise a couple of escalators will do it.

Lounge is great - large and nice views. Reasonable evening fare. It will be closed though on your arrival night given the time. Great breakfast (lots of hot food in the lounge - I've never bothered going downstairs). Staff terrific. Rooms are dated and many have the dreaded shower over tub.

AirTrain definitely better than shuttle buses. Taxis about $40 - $50 so if 2 or more in your party worth considering.

Thanks for everyone’s advice.
Have booked the Sofitel for 2 nights and head up there Friday evening.
Airtrain will cost $65 total for 2x passengers return so a taxi might be almost as cheap.

So as an update I had initially booked the Sofitel for 2 nights at $557 but after a long discussion with my wife we decided to cancel the booking and book at the Pullman for $290. Just couldn’t justify the price difference. Taxi cost $42 so was cheaper than the Airtrain.
Must say I’m impressed with the Pullman. Comfortable room and had a great breakfast in the Exec lounge

Good call. Did you get to the lounge on the 2nd evening? Keen to know what that's like.

Had breakfast in the lounge this morning and going back soon for a drink or two so will post some pics.
Currently at the KG bar enjoying the free welcome drinks. The Pullman is attached to the Mercure and actually uses the Mercure’s pool. Nice complex

Live report - even better! Thanks. I like the sofitel but have been well looked after in other Pullmans too.

They have looked after pretty darn good here IMO so far. The room shows some age but is clean and comfortable. I will post some more over on the other thread but happy with choice so far and the Sofitel would have to be pretty impressive to be worth double what we are paying here

Their rooms are fine but also a bit old. Not many have walk-in-showers, which is a big factor for me.

Smallish exec lounge on ground floor. Was pretty quiet though and had some comfy seats and a couple of big screen TV’s. Food selection was quite small but all I really needed with some biscuits, cheese, fruit, a few types of sweets, sushi and some hot spring rolls and rice balls.
About 4-5 different beers including the excellent Little Creatures Pale Ale, 4 different whites and a bubbly also available. Didn’t see the reds but people were drinking it so must of been there somewhere?
All in all everything I needed to spend an hour or so and the staff were very attentive and topped up drinks regularly
