Hiya,

I bought some QC15 headphones and used them for the first time on the a380.

They were awesome but when the cabin PA announcements came on they were ULTRA LOUD even with the IFE on the lowest volume setting

Anyone else experienced this? Is it just the A380?? :/

In the end I had to revert back to the coughpy plasticnhead phones :(

I don't have any Bose headphone but have noticed that aspect with many N/C headphones.

The current set I use have an automatic attenuation feature that reduces the impact of this issue.

As Serfty said, it's not just the Bose headphones - I have a set of Sony n/c earbuds and it's the same.
Now whenever I see the PA button pop up on the IFE screen they're out of my ears before they start the announcement.....;)

Really

Awww

I was hoping there was something I could do

I like to fall asleep watching movies so I don't wanna have to 'be alert' for the PA message haha

Maybe that is the point of the PA system...that it interrupts for important (and not so important) announcements.

To sidetrack a bit, with strong AUD, it would be good opportunity to buy Bose QC15 in the USA?

I think the PA volume is set differently to the IFE volume as some have pointed out for a reason.

Did you pop the cable out of the base of the left earpiece and set it to "LO".
The manual does recommend this for use on aircraft. "HI" is for iPod/iPhone/other audio sources.

Have to agree with you there. I flew the A380 3 weeks ago to LHR. Set on LO, minimal noise, even when the PA's in operation.

I have a set of Sony MDR-NC60's and I can't say I had any noise issues with the PA on the A380. However, I have noticed it with other headphones on other AC types in the past. So I'm thinking its not an isolated headphone/aircraft issue.
