Bookings through Qantas Hotels don't count?

Forgive me if this has been answered elsewhere, I looked and didn't find it.

I booked my xmas holiday at the Hilton Residences Surfers Paradise via the Qantas Hotels website.

Immediately after my stay, my Qantas points were credited. I was expecting my HHonors points to credit too, but the line went in as 0 points and 0 nights (even though it was an 8 night stay).

I emailed the helpdesk and after a lot of back and forth (including an accusation that I had booked the trip through Expedia) I was told that bookings made through the Quantas (sic) website are not eligible for HHonors points.

I thought I'd be ok, since Hilton has the HHonors points plus airline miles policy.

Has anyone had a similar experience?

Ouch, that would hurt with the quadruple points offer on at the moment. My understanding is that you need to book via the Hilton website or the hotel to earn points.

The HH T&C state in item 3 under Accrual of Points that "third party website bookings" are not a "stay" and therefore "HHonors points may not be earned". I think some travel agent bookings "may" be eligible but I always book direct to ensure no crediting hiccups.

I think the HH T&C should be reworded to be a lot clearer on what is eligible however.

That's been my experience. My work travel agent bookings, using my work's corporate account code earn points (as it is a points/status earning rate), but other travel agents, and other booking sites do not earn points as per the HHonors T&Cs.

I guess it's a way for them to drive direct bookings.

Maybe HH "pay" for the HH points etc out of the money they would have paid the "third party" as commission etc. I have also had my work travel agent bookings credit so it is not a hard and fast rule however.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I just did a booking through my work travel agent. It says as "non-commissionable" - so I guess the agent gets nothing other than the fee for service my work pays them, which may be why HHonors pay points on that booking.

In general you only get Hilton points when you book on the Hilton site. However bookings through travel agents where you pay the hotel yourself can generally earn Hilton points. What they tend to call opaque bookings through internet sites, and usually prepaid, are often not Hilton points earning.
As you booked through Qantas Hotels you will get Qantas points direct from Qantas Hotels. Therefore I doubt you can also expect Hilton points, and the QF double dip.
