Partner and I planning to enjoy the end of my Marriott status and maximise points redemptions before the rewards system changes on 1st March.

My partner has 166,000 pts and no status. I have 200,000ish points and elite status. She can only transfer 100k to me per calendar year leaving 66k.

Have people experienced booking through the non status members account and enjoying status the +1? I assume the answer is no.

Has anyone booked a room for a friend using their own Marriott points? They have a section online that says this is possible but need to call. I will call and ask when ready to book buy wondering if the far more travelled and knowledgeable people here might know.

Any suggestions?

My sister did this for me in Hawaii. She had a Marriot's credit card that lets you have a free room booking up to 50,000 points once a year. She booked it under her name and my name. I just walked up to the check-in place with her confirmation's email. I showed the booking number and my name is shown as an additional guest. They did ask where is my sister, I just said - my sister's flight had been delayed and I got here early. My sister said her friends did this for her before too. She did say, if they ask, just tell them to call her on mobile.
