Can anyone tell me if I book a VA flight through FlyBuys Travel will I earn status credits and velocity points similar to booking direct thru Virgin?
And will I be able to add my FF number and get the improved seat selection as I am a VA Gold member?
Can't seem to find any clarification on either point.
Yes, I know it may not be best value of FlyBuys points, but required points seems to be based on actual dollar value of flights (book early and pay less), where as Virgin seem to have a flat rate for Velocity points for a certain flight - and if I am trying to maintain status the status credits are often what I am chasing.
Thanks

Yes, it will effectively be a cash booking with virgin (same as a point + pay booking direct) so you would get points and SC

You would get better value converting flybuys to velocity and making a reward booking but you wouldn't get the points/SC then.

Flybuys are as good as cash at 0.5c each so you should calculate the difference to see how much extra you'd be paying to "buy" the SC - I can't see how it would be worth it considering the current state of things and I wouldn't be booking anything too far out

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

You can earn VFF points and VFF SC, if VA wasn't in VA, and if VA returns with a VFF, you can earn VFF points and VFF SC, if you went straight to the end of the payments page, and use points there.
Not a good value way of utilising points, granted some don't like it.
In the VA/VFF booking page, when you first go into it, you will see a smallish square box, you tick that, you don't earn any VFF points or VFF SC.
Don't tick that box, just keep plodding in data, and then, when you get to the final payment stage, you will see a payment page, when/where you an enter your credit card details, and here you will a sliding scale, of using points, where this, will earn you VFF points and VFF SC.
FB travel is good in that you will earn FB points from the booking, with them.
Once you have the email from FB travel, you will also get a VA PNR, you can enter into your VA booking with this, via the VA website, manage my booking.
How soon into the future do you have/want to fly?
Can you wait till after the VA is over, and see if VFF will continue with VA, or be a separate entity, (how ever way its going to run).
If VA becomes purely a LCC without a FF program/VFF, the goss is that they will pay out us our outstanding points worth.
If you can wait, maybe its best to see what the new owners of VA will do, either go with the former system, ie, have VFF, or if they will go the LCC way.
If they go the LCC way, (without VFF), you can still book VA flights with FB travel, and earn FB points, but not VFF points for VFF SC.
They say that the current VFF system is very different to the way AN and its GlobalRewards system was run, ie, one and the same.
They say that VA and VFF are separate run.
Waffly off now.

Appreciate the replies.
Not planning to fly till Sept so can wait till after the VA process is sorted and see if VA mk2 exists and what sort of business it will be. If they go low cost carrier, chasing SC's will no longer be a priority. My main priority with status is access to the lounges - if they go i guess I will chase the cheapest ticket and spend the savings at the general airport lounges with everyone else :)

If VA goes totally LCC without either lounges or a FF program, (or continues to fly as it is now) definitely book with FB travel if flying VAmark2, at least earn FB points.
