Was wondering if anyone has had experience making a booking for the same room in a hotel across different booking platforms, or just not possible at all?

Use case is Sofitel DH, have 1 free stay with Accor (which I have found an available date) and also a $450 travel Credit with AMEX Travel that I was considering somehow to use together to form a single booking across subsequent nights, and not needing to bounce between rooms in the Hotel. Both Accor/AMEX options expire in the next month (yes should have planned well ahead).

Anyone had luck in doing similar?

You can't merge these into one booking, but you can book the same category on consecutive nights and then email the hotel ([email protected]) with both booking confirmations and let them know you would like to avoid checking out and back in.

The hotel will make a note on their end. You should remind the front desk at check-in if they don't mention it, but it's quite common for people to do two consecutive bookings for combined business/leisure trips and most hotels are well versed in dealing with it.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I've frequently had multiple bookings at hotels and never had to move rooms. Once I had 5 seperate nights at the Sheraton Grand Mirage, Port Douglas in order to make the most of a Amex Marriott cash back offer.

With Accor hotels, every time I've had split bookings I've been short changed in terms of points/nights accrual. So just keep an eye on that and enjoy chasing it up. You'll get there eventually but you really need to be persistent and double check.

Yes, generally you should be able to get the hotel to merge those bookings no problem. People book consecutive nights in separate bookings for a whole host of reasons and hotels get it. This has also been my experience as well.

What I would like to point out is that there might be some disadvantages to booking with AmEx Travel (or an OTA for that matter) when it comes to hotels, namely that you may not earn elite night stays or access to your elite benefits, as generally speaking hotels are under no obligation to honour such benefits when booked from outside the "official" channels. Now if you don't hold Accor status and aren't the type that wants to climb the ladder up to Platinum or Diamond, this may be fine. But it's something to consider. At the same time, keep in mind that the travel credit does not have to be used on hotels, it could be used on flights or car rentals booked through AmEx travel. The benefit of booking a flight through AmEx travel is you will be able to access elite benefits and earn points and credits towards status with whatever airline you are booking for. At the same time, with American Express Platinum you have access to the International Airline Program (IAP) which provides discounted fares for tickets booked in premium cabin (i.e. Premium Economy, Business and First). The discounts vary but I've generally seen 5 to 10% discount off what you'll find on Google flights. With all that said there is a downside to booking a flight with an OTA like AmEx travel, namely that if the airline changes or cancels your flights you have to deal with AmEx travel and not the airline directly. This can be annoying however in my experience, not as bad as booking a hotel "off the reservation" so to speak.
