Hi all,

I was looking at booking a fare in J on VA7 in December tonight. I was surprised to see that the seating configuration was still 2-3-2 for a number of days I tried.

Does anyone have any details of when we'll see the 1-2-1 seating configuration for bookings? The Air New Zealand product has admittedly tainted my views regarding what business class is.

I don't think they've loaded the new seat maps yet?

Try CX or EY and then see how tainted you feel about the NZ product ;)

I doubt we will see such seat maps under much closer to the launch date, which is late this year.

Given that the new seat maps will have 3-4 more seats than the current config VA don't have to worry about selling our a flight.

As the 77W refurbs don't start till November IIRC. I think it will be hard to know what the which flights will have the new product until at least mid December.

The 1-2-1 configuration was very awesome on Air New Zealand. The only complaints I could possibly level were a lack of a bar, the in-seat power not being sufficient for my laptop and no in-air internet access - all quite minor things really.

I just flew back into BNE from LAX on VA8 in J. This was the final legal of a RTW J trip with EY from MEL-LHR and VS from LHR-EWR and DL EWR-LAX.

It pains me to say that VA J was the worst of the lot. It really is a tired product and doesn't compare, IMHO, to the other airlines it partners with, let along the likes of CX.
