Booking name doesn't match KF name - can I still get credit?

I've just returned from a trip to EU with Thai, which I attempted to credit to KF. My KF number was added to the booking by the TA - which I verified using CheckMyTrip. However, I've just noticed that my first name was misspelled on my booking! There is an extra letter there that should not be there. This error went unnoticed by myself, the travel coordinator at work, and everyone who checked my documentation during my trip! And no, before you ask, my "official" first name is not Jack!

I'm guessing this is the explanation for the following:
  • When I did OLCI for the outward leg no FF number was showing, so I added myself at that point, but there was still no FF number printed on my BPs (collected at the airport).
  • I checked in at a desk for the return flights, and asked the agent if my FF number was in the booking and she said no. So I gave her my KF card and she swiped it and said the number is there now. This was after she had actually printed the BPs though, so again no FF number on the BPs.
  • As of today (5 days after the first flight), nothing regarding this trip has shown up on my KF account.

I'm assuming the system has rejected my FF number as the name on the ticket doesn't exactly match the name they have on file for my KF account, so I think I'll have to do a manual retro claim (I still have all BPs). Question - does anyone know if the name issue will be a problem with a manual claim? And any advice on how to approach this - i.e. should I just submit everything as normal and say nothing, or proactively tell them about the error with my name?

Nothing to lose by explaining the misspelling. Given that the Passport numbers will have matched, and the KF number was shown on the BP then it seems reasonable.

I always love good examples of why our airport security is more about making travellers feel secure more so than ensuring they are.

Jack I wouldn'y imagine it would be any problem at all - scan whatever docs you have and email them in and I am sure you will be ok.

Thanks for the reassuring replies! I just looked into the manual retro claim process, and it seems they will only accept claims if at least 8 weeks have passed since travel, so I'll hold off until then.

Looks like I was worrying about nothing - the miles for the first two sectors just got credited, without me doing anything. So maybe the KF system didn't pick up the error either? Still strange that the KF number wouldn't seem to stick in the booking, and that it didn't appear on the BPs. Maybe that's just the way it is with Thai though (this was my first time flying with them).

Jack, I'm not surprised. A few years back I had some points mysteriously appear in my KF account for flights I had never taken, only to be reversed some months later. I can only assume some other random traveller quoted my KF number by mistake (and later realised their error). So I suspect there is no checking of names at all. (The flights were with a partner airline - Air Canada.)

I'm sitting on some Thai points that posted to my account, yet never traveled on them. Unfortunately not enough to do anything with.
