Hi all,

I am looking to book some flights from Darwin to Hanoi and then Ho Chi Minh to Darwin. Will be flying silk air/Singapore but I would like to book direct through the virgin site to get them as codeshare flights and hence count as eligible sectors. Getting close to platinum!

I can't seem to find a way to book a multi stop trip though with the destination selectable if virgin itself doesn't fly from there? If I choose Darwin to Hanoi return I get flights with a VA flight number. If I try Darwin to Hanoi and then another seperate leg, I can't select Ho Chi Minh. Is there anyway around this?

I went on Expedia and searched for the same flights and it actually came up with Virgin codeshare flights for both stops. Darwin to Hanoi via Singapore: VA5702 and VA5567. Then Ho Chi Minh to Darwin via Singapore: VA5565 and VA5701.

Cheers in advance for your help.

David

If you book VA code share via Expedia, that should give you the same benefits as thru the VA website. The VA website is rubbish I'm not surprised flights are not showing up - their integration with other carriers is hopeless. Tried to search for a reward flight bkk - syd, and the only towns in Australia that were coming up when you selected Bangkok as source were Harvey Bay and Woolie Woolie (wtf?!?!) :)

Yep, Expedia will do it. So will Wotif.

Thanks guys. Will just do it through Expedia then. Just another example of how poor the virgin website is I guess.. Doesn't even integrate properly with their partners for codeshare flights.

You can get some additional codeshare flexibility via the call centre and I have never been charged a booking fee as a WP (I think they acknowledge that the website availability is restricted).

However, I do not think they will do what the OP wants to do so Expedia may be the way to go.

I was able to ring the velocity helpline and book exactly what I wanted through the call center! Got the split destination flights, all codeshare and managed to get them to waive the credit card fee because I couldn't use Poli. So bulk Amex points for no extra cost haha! Very happy with the result. Should get me to platinum after the trip, not that it seems very worthwhile these days.. Mainly the soft landing to gold the following year for me.

^^ I was going to say phone the call centre and have the fee waived because their site suck, Ive done this a couple of times when armed with all the flight numbers, dates/times ect.

Glad it worked out for you
