I'm planning a trip for my family hopefully to take around April 2021, if borders are open by then, to Europe. I already have long-haul flights in business class locked-in with miles (Qantas/JAL using AAdvantage, and Singapore using KrisFlyer).

While searching for properties for a few nights near Disneyland Paris for a family of two adults and two kids, with ideally the kids in a separate but connected room, I found the Marriott Village d'Ile-de-France, which is a Marriott Vacation Club property. But as accommodation it seems ideal: standalone villa, separate bedrooms as well as kitchen and living areas, close to but separate from the Disney parks.

I'm Bonvoy Gold, but am aware they don't honour room upgrades etc at Vacation Club properties. Can one comfortably just book and stay like it's a hotel, without sitting through timeshare sales pitches? I just want to stay somewhere, but there's no way it will ever be feasible for us to own timeshare property half a world away.

Solution
Basically booking through the website it is just like staying at hotel.Have stayed at a couple of Sheraton vacation villages in the past-no upsell and no presentation.
Staying at Hilton Grand vacations usually get invited to a presentation.
I have never stayed at a Marriott vacation property. I understand the add on pricing can really add up so just be aware of the extras that they tend not to mention in the room rate.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

There is another thread here somewhere on Marriott vacation sales pitches. I think if you absolutely know you cannot afford to buy In then you are 100% immune.

Stayed at Vacation Club Surfers Paradise a few times, as that section of the hotel is a bit nicer, there were a few extras and on those occasions it was less points than the hotel side. They left a few messages to come down and collect my gift... ah no thanks. Also a couple of calls to my mobile asking how my stay was and would I like to see a presentation... ah no thanks. So fairly easy peasy, but I'm pretty good at politely shutting down sales pitches.
