I see I can earn QF points when flying China Southern as long as the flights have a QF code-share flight number. I cannot figure out how to book this as the QF website does not show China Southern flights even when searching SYD-CAN

Many thanks @madrooster - Google advises me that I can credit to American Airlines so I'll try to do that on booking. I found a good fare online - SYD-CAN-IST for less that $3000 pp in J. I will then cancel the 2 other award bookings I'm holding (one via DOH with VA/QR and the other via BKK booked with AC points which is fine but the dates/timing do not work all that well as my destination is Malta)
