Booking a Singapore stopover

About to book a revenue J MEL-SIN-HND-SIN-MEL, and need to spend 2 nights in Singapore on the way to Tokyo.

If I cost this out without the stopover, it comes to 4,580.77

If I cost it using the multi-city tool, it comes to 5,100.57

This is essentially for the same flights, but a couple of days a part.

I'm not sure how the costs are different considering the whole route comes to the same cost no matter what days I specify.

Anyone have any experience with this? And is it possible to get the whole trip at the sale price?

assuming it must be a fare condition that is changing and not letting you get the same sale fare on the 'displaced flight. Maybe try leaving two days earlier or later.

Looking at the fare conditions it shows:

Stopover	FOR FARES WITH FOOTNOTE 2V NOTE - GENERAL RULE DOES NOT APPLY 1 STOPOVER PERMITTED IN EACH DIRECTION IN SIN. A STOPOVER MAY NOT EXCEED 14 DAYS. NOTE - STOPOVERS MUST BE TAKEN AT THE TRANSFER POINTS.

given that SQ fares are generally available at the same price through a travel agent or their online call centre, they might be able to get the flight combinations that you need. just give them a call.
