Hello all,

I am wanting to book a multi-stop domestic itinerary on the DJ website and for the life of me I can't find how to do it unless I book each leg of journey as a separate itinerary (4 times entering credit card etc)....am I missing something on the Virgin site ?

FYI the trip I need to do is:

BNE - PER
PER - ADL
ADL - MEL
MEL - BNE

Any help with this would be appreciated.

Cheers
Dave.

PS: Booking multistop on QF site is a piece of cake.

I've tried a few different websites (Expedia, Zuji etc) and none of them can do a multi-trip like this for DJ (which admittedly was v surprising). It's certainly possible to construct a multi-stop fare using DJ, so this might be something you need to speak to a TA about..?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I believe our new reservations system will allow this functionality later this year. The present system is a hangover from LCC days.

Whilst DJ don't have the facility to do a multi-sector over the web if you call reservations on 136 789 they will honour the internet price for doing it over the phone as you physically can't do it over the web.

The levy for using a credit card is AUD3.50 per flight not per booking so the actual cost would be identical to making 4 individual bookings BNE/PER, PER/ADL, ADL/MEL, MEL/BNE.

You can however book connecting flights on the one booking though so if any of the above sectors are same day eg ADL/MEL & MEL/BNE just do an availability ADL/BNE & check if it displays connecting flights.

I helped a friend book a fare & entered DRW to ADL in my search criteria & the result displayed the connect flights DRW/BNE/ADL (DJ don't fly non-stop DRW/ADL).

If you have more than one flight on the same day in the same pnr baggage can be through checked to your final destination. This cannot be done on DJ if flights are in separate pnrs.

FWIW JQ also have the same Navitaire checkin system as DJ and even though the functionality is the the same they don't offer the option of through checking bags domestically - it's still very much LCC mentality of only checking bags to the next destination.

JQ are probably under the misguided assumption that doing it this way bags don't get lost or left behind and justifies them not having dedicated baggage people to handle baggage enquiries.

More likely avoids the problems (and costs) of implementing a system to transfer baggage between flights.

Sounds like fuzzy logic on JQ's part here as the bag would still have to be taken off the first flight & chucked onto the carousel at the intermediate destination.

Pax then collects bag & checks in again for next flight & bag is loaded onto said aircraft. :?: :?:

Don't know where they think the time or money saving is there.

Hmmm must work well for Ryan Air so will automatically work well here in Oz.....not!

I can imagine that it saves on staff costs for a start. They only have to dump the bags at one carousel at the intermediate destination. Requiring a X people to do. It would still require X people to dump 90% of the bag on the carousel and then they would need how many more staff to send the remaining 10% of bags to how many aircraft?

Thanks for the replies.

I guess I will book this one via a TA...anyone have a recommendation for a good one in Brisbane (via PM if you prefer)

The CC levy doesnt worry me, I just get annoyed at having to enter the card 4 times for what I consider to be the same trip !

Cheers
Dave.

I think you will find a travel agent will charge a service otherwise they won't make any money otherwise.

It's not really something you need to book through a TA as it's pretty straight forward.

I'd be calling DJ's call centre.

Update....

Just noticed a link on the DJ website for Multi City Bookings.

Clicking it brings up a new page thus:
Virgin Blue > Multi-City Bookings

While it doesnt mean you can book a multi-stop online at least now people wont spend 20 minutes on the site looking for it.

I cant help wondering if crazydave98 might of had something to do with this development :):)

Cheers
Dave.
