Hi All,
As some of you may remember I posted here with some questions about an award flight to London in Business or First class this June. After checking online and speaking to the QFF booking people there were no direct flights however they suggested a route (below) after thinking about it I went ahead and booked this online rather than calling back and avoided the service fee.

I now however have some concerns which you guys may be able to help with the flights are as follows:

10 June 08, SYD->SIN on BA16 - Depart 15:30, Arrive 21:45 - Business Class
10 June 08, SIN->LHR on BA16 - Depart 23:10 - First Class

So this is the same BA flight with a stop in SIN that continues to LHR, however I will be in business for the first half and in first for the second half.

My concers are as follows:

1) Will I be issued with a boarding pass for the SIN->LHR segment from Sydney or will I have to fully exit at SIN and find a check in desk again?
2) Will they be able to check my baggage all the way through to LHR on this ticket or will I have to collect/recheck
3) There is only a gap of 85 minutes between landing and departing again so I am hoping I can just exit and immediately reboard wit the F ticket....
4) EDIT - oops ;)
5) Can I select my seats online / check in online with this BA flight booked via Qantas?

I look forward to your replies :)

They might be feeling generous and issue a single boarding from SYD->LHR all in the one seat at the very front of the plane :D But then again, I just looked out the window and saw some flying pigs ....

Seriously though, if you were travelling on different flights (say QF connecting to BA at SIN) you would be issued separate boarding passes and luggage tagged all the way through, so this will not be problem. You will get your luggage checked all the way through, and get both boarding passes when you check in at SYD. Even (in the unlikely event) if they can't issue the boarding passes, luggage will go all way through and you'll just have to visit a transfer desk airside at Singapore.

I would expect you will be issued both boarding passes in Sydney, and being it's the same aircraft used SYD-SIN-LHR I don't anticipate a problem.

Pax staying in the same seat aren't required to disembark in SIN (they are in BKK) but i'm not sure given you hold a different boarding pass from SIN-LHR...I would just speak to the CSR onboard when you board in SYD and clarify whats required.
Personally i'd disembark and go and sit in the QP during refueling, sure beats sitting onboard.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for much for the info guys :)

You should also have access to a First Class lounge, and I think if you were to move from J to F without de-planing, it would be similar to moving seats in a movie theatre, whereas if you leave the plane and board into F Class it would be like entering a new world. You should have a short time to enjoy the comforts of F lounge.

Thanks Maca44 I will try and visit the F lounge in SIN for sure :)

I just checked out the online check in at BA - looks good all the details show up at least. I was even able to select the seat in F (have to wait until 24 hours to select business seats).

Managed to grab seat 2K so pretty happy about that! :D

Just to echo what others have said...

You should be issues both boarding passes at Sydney (not 100% assured but 99% it will happen)
Your bags will be checked through
You may or may not have to leave the aircraft but Singapore is not split arrival/departure like other airports so no issues there anyway.

Enjoy the flight :)

I was on QF 1 SYD-BKK-LHR on 23 June 2007 and I was allowed to stay on the plane during the stop-over. Same seat in economy class. Is this a new policy introduced recently?

James

I'm pretty sure you do need to disembark during refueling in SIN, and take all cabin baggage with you (which has to be re-screened when you get back on again.)

OK looks like that is indeed the case in SIN, whereas at BKK it is not requied to disembark.
