Book a flight and Extend Current status to 2022

I agree.

With the main benefits for me of Platinum relating to overseas travel I see zero incentive to level back up from Gold right now. Today’s plan to keep the borders shut means if QF wants to keep the maximum number of international travellers loyal they will need to provide a further extension.

Right now yes it will be the retain amount (1200). However given the situation, the latest announcements from gov, the medium term prospects etc I think it's safe to say there will be more ways to support status over the next year.

I have been given the extension, and QF website is telling me I need 1200 SCs to requal next year.

The main benefit for me is now shorter wait times when rebooking

cheers skip

Not sure if this has been answered yet...but with the status extension do you then have to get the full amount to retain your status or will it just be the retain amout...ie. I need 29 more credits to retain WP this year, does that mean if I don't earn them I will have to earn the full 1400 next year instead of retaining with 1200?
If you drop back to Gold status, you then need to earn the full 1400 SC the following year to requalify as WP.

Just wondering has anyone had the extension happen when their one and only flight was cancelled ?
I still have yet to book my token trip to maintain platinum . There are four months till the end of my year but...

Similar situation, I am still waiting for JQ status credits from mid June. Hope once credited they will update my rollover amount as that would get me close to 500. The online request says it would be done by 04.07, so let's see what happens with those 40 missing JQ status credits.

Got my missing status credit from June now but they did not rollover automatically (01. July anniversary). Just sent another request to Qantas to include them manually in my rollover. I will update the outcome as some had similar issues.

Move if wrong thread, but anyone else with a 31 May anniversary date not yet received the ‘early June’ rollover status credits?
SC rollovers were posted overnight.

He's a curly one... I only qualified for P1 in my last anniversary year (yes, even with COVID... but some well timed DOM long haul work trips in J and DSCs I managed to get P1).

For this year, I qualified for the maximum SC rollover of 1,800SCs.

Now the interesting part... Qantas FF website still showing I need to earn 2,700SCs on QF flights to retain P1.

So, essentially, to retain P1, I still have to earn 2,700SCs this year, as opposed to 1,800 thanks to status boost.

Is this right? I can't seem to find anything on QF website about this being waived. All my QF SCs will be earned on QF flights this year anyway (no international, obviously). But I still need to earn 2,700SCs?

Remember the 2700 QF/JQ sectors are *part of* the 3600 total for P1. You've been rolled over 1800. So yeah I should think it should be 900? seems like a glitch and not deliberate.

Since rollover just posted (this late? wow) seems to me that the systems may catch up on the next run and hopefully that 2700 will come down. I would think so anyway. I would think if nothing changes in a few weeks just drop a note to the VIP Team.

I have a feeling you'll be fine :) (plus I also have a feeling there will be another extension)

I wonder if the next extension could require proof of vaccination? If they are extending to help those intending to travel internationally and won’t carry unvaccinated travellers there’s little point extending the status of those who refuse to be vaccinated.

works for me!... but imagine the outcry :)

wow that's pretty wild linking the two things imo.

Many people earn status travelling domestic and there's never been a suggestion pax will require the vaccine for domestic travel - heck plenty people unjabbed flying as it is (well who aren't half the country locked down right now that is :) ) so I cannot see a link between status extensions and vax status tbh.

AJ may have said that international travel will require vaccination certificate or passport or whatever. I don't think that will ever end up being a thing for various reasons, but even if it does come to pass hec what does QF care status wise? I mean if you can't fly the status will naturally expire no longer how extended and it costs them nothing.. so I don't see why they'd worry requiring it. And again it's never been suggested to be required for domestic travel so....

Still, it's an.. imaginative thought imo.

I guess it may have made sense before the latest lockdowns where the main impact to travel this year had been on international travel not domestic, but now that there has been some major lockdowns domestic travel will have taken a big hit as well.

I hope QF comes up with something. Pretty hard to get 2700 SCs on QF metal anywhere at the moment, and especially if not living in Australia.

I am hoping QF will come up with another plan. I am still 190 SC short of the 2700SC target with 4 days to run and I am trusting the 1 flight thing just kicks in. I guess I will have the answer within a week.

Personally I think QF is just grasping for cash and doesn’t care if you actually fly. If every one of their members with status booked just one flight, they probably would get a decent amount of cash to tie them over.
I agree. Has anyone ever seen any evidence that actually taking the flight is necessary? Has anyone had experience of not turning up and getting (or not) the extension?

I was actually talking to an VIP Service Team agent today about some matters and within the context of another issue mentioned just booking before membership anniversary date is enough. FWIW.

I could have posted this in one of four threads but here will do, I was on a call the other day to the same team about a booking that QF cancelled and was offered the travel pass thing that involves the options of DSC, DP or 10% increase in dollar value. I asked about the more recent status extension for those with anniversaries up until Jun 22 (I am interested as I am in the Jul cohort) the advice I was given was not to worry. Not sure what that means but maybe there will be another announcement to pick up others that expire in the second half of 2022. Sort of makes sense if travel (including) resumes around Dec 21 as most will should be able to retain their status until 2023 and have a crack at retention the old fashion way, i.e. flying.

It could also be that if people only get half a year of flying that they do something in-between the 12 month extension and no help at all.

QF will want to appear reasonable, but at the same time encourage as much flying as possible.
