Hi all

I need to travel to Los Angeles next month to attend a conference and I'm unsure whether to travel QF or VA in premium economy (PE). Has anyone travel on both airlines that could possible clarify the comfort level between the two? My only dilemma is on the return I need to depart LA on the 11th of June and for some reason QF aren't operating that day which is strange as this is usually a daily service. If QF's PE product is better than VA I could travel via SYD on the return if I had to or leave LA a day earlier.

Price difference is $400 but that is not a deciding factor as work is paying for it. It's the comfort that I'm after because I usually travel J and I can't this time :(

Given it is a short trip (5 days) I would prefer to stick with non-stop flights ex Brisbane. I could possibly get away with flying PE BNE/LAX and J back on VA for $5703 but failing this it will have to be PE return.

Any feedback is appreciated.

Are they not operating or sold out? IIRC the BNE-LAX flight only goes 6 days/week also so that may be the issue..

There's been a few threads on this recently, and there's very little in it so I would choose based on timing and/or FF program.

If you can get J one way, more the better and go for that.

I've flown VA Premium Economy, was meant to fly QF Y+ but got upgraded both ways.

What I can tell you about VA Y+ is I found no cause for complaints, the seats I'd liken very much to QF's domestic J seats, found them perfectly comfortable for a 14 hour flight and found the service to be excellent.

Hope that helps.

For what it's worth I went back and checked out the PE seats on QF they seemed perfectly adequate for the day flight unless you think you will sleep for 6 hours. can't speak for DJ.

Then again I never bother With combo fares as after the tax deduction the price difference is minimal (let alone when work is paying).
