I'm kinda happy that nonews opened up their comments section for this one. Makes for some interesting reading... :lol:

As for the landing itself, it sounds almost textbook like, although I'm sure ATSB will have a 100 pages written up about the event.

How does this affect both Domestic and International ? Aren't they completely separate terminals with different runways?

:lol::lol::lol:
although I suppose he's right in the sense that a 747 probably wouldn't use the shorter runway but it still reads funny.

EK433 to Singapore was scheduled to depart at 2:45 but finally departed atl 9am. I have taken that flight once, even travelling in J I was a zombie the next day and vowed never to take that flight again. I can't imagine what it would be like combined with a 5 hour delay. I assume the passengers had to spend the night in the terminal or if they did make it to a hotel they would not have had a lot of sleep.

I doubt they were even allowed to leave, probably as they were boarding at the time, no doubt got back into the terminal then waited for a new crew.

A bit of quality reporting there. If they don't land on their undercarriage, how else do they land?

"
Light plane landed on its undercarriage at 2.30am

I guess they could have landed upside down...

Yeah, I was on the QF 8 a few weeks ago and that very flight was delayed until 7am. Most of the pax had already gone through security etc so they were stuck landslide. At least there was plenty of seating that allows you to sleep.

Was interesting watching Channel 10's The Project tonight.In their coverage they showed a woman who was asked-"How long did you have to stay in the air?"
The reply was priceless-"about 5 years"(insert shocked smiley which is not working again).
As one of the presenters said-"I didn't know planes carried that much fuel".

The media also reported the Metro was being flown by the Chief Pilot and a student pilot??? Was it perhaps an F/O doing a command upgrade or a Captain doing ICUS (in command under supervision)?

No issues landing around 715 tonight, as everyone suspected (apart from an ATC-requested ten minute delay, which is hardly unusual)!
