What a surprise:

Brisbane Airport will open the first of 5287 new short-term car parks tomorrow morning, but motorists will have to pay more for the privilege of parking there.
It will cost motorists an extra $1 per hour to park in the nine-level, $180 million car park. They will pay up to $14 for the first hour and up to $16 for two hours.
By late March, when fully operational, a full car park could generate $72,800 in parking revenue in an hour for the Brisbane Airport Corporation.

I understand that people are going to park there no matter what, so being a good company and lowering prices seems silly for them when they can raise prices and still have the same amount of users… quite sad for us :(

They have the Park Assist system in place which does make it much easier to find a spot by simpily looking for a green dot.

That alone is worth paying the premium for. Its about time Australian carparks started to catch up with this technology. I remember seeing this system deployed in carparkd in Dublin/London/Edinburgh 10years ago.

BNE parking fees are one of the reasons I fly from OOL where possible. This increase in charges only reinforces my decision.
I am fortunate in that I can drive from home to the OOL carpark in 45 min.

Park assist is good if it works. Lost count of the times I've seen the green light only to get there with a vehicle already there. OT but I see they have the same thing at Westfield chermside now :)

For a second there I thought there was a M&S store nearby :(

I love Park Assist, but such technology that should have been here ages ago, all while the carpark has been making money anyway, shouldn’t have to cost extra.

Park assist has always worked for me al Westfield Bondi Junction but I haven't used it that frequently

It will take half an hour to get a park and walk over to the terminal.

I'm tipping the line up of cars on Moreton Drive won't change (much prefer Dryandra Road myself)

Greg.

More reason for me to park at either Andrew's or BAP parking places.
