Hi All,

I have a choice of QF A333-300 or Emirates 777-300ER business class BKK-SYD.
We have never done business class before.
Which one should we choose?

Thanks for your help.
Craig

QF (QF24)
Business suite - good seat with direct aisle access 1-2-1 configuration
Amenities - standard amenity pack i.e. toothbrush and toothpaste, comb, moisturiser etc and PJ for your night flight
IFE - substantial
Catering - good overall

EK (think this is EK418?)
Angled flat seat (not full flat seat) in 2-3-3 configuration
Amenities - standard amenity pack i.e. toothbrush and toothpaste, comb, moisturiser etc. No PJ unfortunately
IFE - good selection and will keep you entertain for hours
Catering - good overall

QF prevail in this one.

I tend to agree with mmchow above, but I had the old Skybed seats on QF24 as recently as last week.

Unless you had a guarantee of EK upgrading you to F, I'd take the better J product on QF.

If it's an a333 they're all refurbd.

Seconded.

OP if you provide your intended travel date someone can look up EF to check the QF aircraft configuration (though of course this is subject to equipment swaps at the last minute).

Thanks for all the replies.

Travel date is 11th March 2017

Options are: QF24 or QF8418

If it's sleep you want then QF win with either of their Business class products. But I generally find EK soft product and IFE much better if you don't plan on sleeping for one reason or another.

I personally would travel with EK. I agree with NZ_Flyer and as it is your first J flight I hope sleep is not high on your priorities. ðŸ

Qantas without a shadow of a doubt on the 330 J (other aircraft not) BUT if you're a fan of bling bling, EK has that in spades

Have done both quite a few times and for me QF wins even though their meal service takes ages. The new J suites are really nice and had a very good sleep. If you take the QF option I would suggest the CX lounge

EK has the better lounge, food, onboard service - forget sleeping and enjoy your first time with a proper J service

I agree with yohy, the Emirates lounge in BKK is really good and much better than the old QF lounge, let alone the third party lounge they direct you to now. Also find the food on EK J is better than QF J. Seat on the QF A330 is great, but I managed a good 5 hours sleep in the EK J 777 seat from BKK to SYD in May, might have had something to do with the 3 glasses of excellent white in the Emirates lounge before the flight, followed on by 1 champagne and then 3 glasses of white with dinner?

Having said that, I am always thrilled when I get to fly J, regardless of the carrier, so you will enjoy either flight. Relax and make the most of the service!

Interesting, I compared both again last month and am really not a big fan of the EK lounge, might be the novelty value of the CX lounge but I enjoyed that one more :)

You may also like to consider the following made by ausbt "None of those double seats are directly next to one another, so the Business Suite isn't really designed for couples who want to fly together and fully share the journey."

Hi All,

Thanks for all of your replies and input.
We have decided to go with the QF option as my wife preferred the better sleeping seat.

Cheers
Craig
