Hi all. Next June I'll celebrate my 40th. I'd like to head off for 4-5 weeks in May (flexible). I'm an experienced independent budget traveller. Not scared of odd ticket combinations, novel suggestions, etc. Would like this trip to be nice and comfortable in the air, but I'm always travelling on a modest budget (typically max 50-70 Euros for a pension in Paris/Lisbon/Munich). The only time I've afforded to actually pay for C was a mixed class trip from Australia, using Qatar/QR in C from Singapore to Europe v/v. Lovely, and all up was less than A$3500!
I accept a full-comfort trip could easily cost more than double that, but if you can help me find novel ways to keep the cost down and comfort up, that'd be marvellous
The lack of irrational exuberance amongst my paying clients isn't helping my budget at the moment!
Itinerary: Paris, bits of Germany and Scandinavia. Pretty flexible about what else to include/exclude, except the European stuff. Perhaps also Montréal or Vancouver, train down the US west coast. NYC or the South could be an option. Japan's also an option. Perhaps KL or Singapore. I'm familiar with parts of all countries mentioned. Open to other fun suggestions.
I doubt my miles will help me much, but I might as well mention my current paltry balances of MileagePlus (97k) and QFF (55k), NW (20k). I'm usually a Star Alliance guy (because they are more generous to their Y-pax, broadly speaking) and understand their RTW offerings. No points/miles-earning credit card.
