Hello,
So I am flying to Melbourne - New York via LA, and I have received an offer to upgrade to Business via Bid now for LA to NY leg.
However, I have not received such request for Melbourne to Los Angeles leg.

Does this mean that MEL-LA business class is full? I am concerned about it because I have requested a classic reward upgrade to Business via points and was expecting an upgrade. Flying on 5th July so start of the off-peak season.

What do you guys reckon?

Thanks

About the only possible conclusion is Qantas isn't prepared to offer you a bid now upgrade option for MEL-LAX.

Expertflyer results for QF93 5th July

F9 A9 J9 C9 D9 I9 W9 R9 T0 Y3 B3 H3 K3 M3 L3 V3 S2 G0

Would that be, because I have requested a classic reward upgrade ?

I'm really not sure. Just don't think there is any useful conclusion that can be made. The availability posted by Steady seems to suggest there might be a few business seats available.

Classic upgrades are done before the Bid Now offers anyway.

So 9 or more seats available in 4 different business class fare buckets - the maximum they show is 9

Edit; have a read through these threads for a better understanding of Expertflyer

They show about 15 Blocked seats which are not allocated.
Any idea if those seats are given to classic rewards ?
What's the priority like ? Do elite members get first preference for free upgrades or members with classic reward request upgrading with points ?

You're kind of asking questions that can't be answered.
I see 23 potentially unsold seats in the seat map. 15 are blocked to you access them. They could be blocked because they're sold, as a spare seat for higher status people, reserved for higher status people or there are probably a few other reasons. All we know is that you can't access those seats via seat selection.

We also know that Qantas is prepared to sell at least 9 seats in business, but there could be upto 23 seats available for sale, or even potentially more than 23. Neither of those things tells us about classic awards, which are in the U fare bucket, or the chance of an upgrade award being released. Although there are reports of upgrades being related to I fare availability. Basically about all that can be said is it's not clear, but might happen.

Higher status members are given first access to upgrade awards if those awards are released.

Thanks for the detailed information medhead. Appreciate it.
