Fortunate enough to have experienced the new suites on QF29/30 MEL-HKG-MEL April 2015. Love the new suites, a vast allround improvement on the Skybeds, and can't wait for next trip in a few months. Although the width seems a tad less, the fully flat, lower-to-floor bed offers a great sleeping position. The super large entertainment screen, and new Q software, is leaps and bounds ahead too....BUT BEWARE...

Mel-hkg leg saw my favourite pen slip between the seat, and even with my lanky arms and long hands it couldn't be retrieved. No biggie. The 'biggie' was on the way home, hkg-mel, where upon waking and returning the seat to an upright position for brekky, my ears noticed an almighty 'crunch crunch crunch' - yes, my iphone had slipped off the table, down the gap, and nestled itself perfectly on the motorized tracks that move the seat. Hmm. Not happy Janice. Fished it out, and found a "C" shaped iphone 5, with obliterated screen, and camera lens and speaker section spilling out of the case. Very angry with myself for letting this happen... I recall someone else here mention the almighty gap an issue with the new suite.

Anyway, not the best way to end an otherwise great experience in the refurbed cabins..... Please all beware, and if like me you like to listen to music while you sleep- don't leave your device on the table - park it somewhere secure.

Cheers.

Thanks for the warning note Eddieskewes, I will be on QF52 from SIN to BNE in a couple of weeks and am looking forward to trying out the new Business suites (hoping that QF do not swap out my scheduled refitted A333).

I have had issues with the kids dropping various items into the gap besides the A380 business seats in the past but this sounds like a much bigger problem and iPhones still cost big bucks.

Sorry to hear about your phone!! Upgrade time? :)

I noticed this to on a few flights PER-MEL and return.

I found the best option is to put everything into the little box so they can't slip around when you have a snooze.

For what it's worth I had a similar thing happen to me on an AC flight a couple of years back in executive first. Phone and wallet slipped down the gap, in the end and engineer had to get my wallet and badly scratched phone!!

Mrs andye lost her phone on the plane (assumed fallen between seats) when we first emigrated. Situation not helped by my wallet being pinched 24 hours later.
