Better Boarding

One show that I really enjoy is Myth Busters. They took up this challenge -

I did read the article earlier today. Most interesting, I thought.

But, as most airlines can't even get priority boarding right, I see close to no chance that the WILMA or the alternate row method ever working in reality. If only airline boarding was a true controlled environment like the Mythbusters experiment.

Back to front Zoned WILMA may be faster?
MBusters does not address Pboarding though (except for J) and in reality PB makes any boarding system more complicated.

The only benefit to PBoarding is getting a spot for the carry on. The other “benefits” are spurious.

I was hoping that MBusters included boarding with only a small personal item like a handbag or laptop bag. All larger bags should be in checked for those high frequency quick turnaround flights.

I would have through WILMA should be standard by now, given the time efficiency and satisfaction.

What it doesn't factor in, however, is that not all pax are waiting at the gate at the start of boarding. So WILMA would end up being a hybrid between WILMA and random seat.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Apparently London's Gatwick Airport is going to do a few experiments to see what can be done in reality. Only using Gate 101 for these trials.

Hopefully someone here will participate and report back!
