Hi everybody! So I've been crunching numbers and I can't seem to figure out the best way to do this.

The husband and I are looking to fly ADL - SIN - LHR over the Dec/ January period. The dates we are looking for are:

ADL - SIN : 21/12/17
SIN - LHR: 25/12/17
LHR - SIN: 10/01/18
SIN - ADL: 13/01/18

Current points /miles that we have:

Krisflyer: 60, 539
Accent Amex: 35,788
ANZ rewards: 106, 225
Avios: 10, 732

My original thought was to redeem an ADL - SIN flight on SIA, and then to convert the credit card points into Avios points to redeem BA flights for the SIN - LHR leg, but ran into a snag as the conversion is not a transfer that is offered by the cards. We have to stop by SIN for family reasons on those dates but are not opposed to it being different airlines. I do have KF miles expiring so would prefer to use the KF miles for something...

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. We are quite happy to fly economy tho never having flown anything beyond economy, I guess we don't really know what we are missing out on!

Thank you!

A big benefit of visiting Asia on the way is the availability of cheap fares FROM Asia to Europe and back...

On your dates prices for an Economy return JHB-LHR range from AUD$860 (Malaysian and Oman Airlines...via KUL and MCT - Muscat) through $904 on all Malaysian from SIN via KUL....to $1151 direct SIN-LHR on SQ (SIA).

OR...also from JHB (Senai International... 71 k's from SIN...sorry...should have mentioned that) ....you can pay $1766 for Economy to KUL on MH (Malaysian), a very short flight... then Premium Economy on BA in the 787 to LHR...same in reverse on the return...

OR... Business class.... JHB-LHR return...MH and Oman Air......$3113...again via KUL and MCT

That was fun searching......and I learned about JHB!

Thanks Trooper.

We are quite familiar with JHB as that is my hometown and would prefer to fly from Changi (SIN) instead of JHB or KUL. I have no love for either of those airports unfortunately! Logistic /family location wise, SIN is also a better route as the causeway jam is a painful journey at the best of times, even more so around Christmas.

Would you happen to know about how to get the most out of the current Krisflyer/Credit Card points that I currently have? Thank you so much for your time, I do appreciate it.

Good to know....

Sorry.... not a Krisflyer user...or a CC points one either...strange I know...

BUT.. what I would find tempting would be to pay for that SIN-LHR-SIN Y+ fare... and look to get TO SIN with KF/CC points...you seem to have enough KF points for ONE return ADL-SIN... JMO!

The SQ redemption in Y out & in to Adelaide are wait listed on your dates & around them so of no use. You could do Sing to London return around your dates in economy for 152K points. You will be a bit short with the ANZ converting to around 40K KF points. Don't know about the Avios points. You can top up by buying points but buy from Amex as they are cheaper than KF. Scoot Biz could be worth a look return from Sing if they fly to Adelaide. Would be a shame to loose your KF points. You could also blow them on 2 business one ways to Sing or better to Adelaide as you get the lounge in Changi.
