My sister in law and 14 year old niece are going to London in two weeks and would love to do a high tea.
Any suggestions?

Mrscove is looking it up now.....Thanks for the suggestion Tony.
2011 was won by Claridges and 2010 by The Langham. We have tried The Langham.

Many threads on FT. Some people from the USofA like a British Afternoon Tea :p :p
Search on the UK forum for "Afternoon tea" U.K. and Ireland
Some of these have links to other threads as well a discussion on high tea vs afternoon tea [Yanks will never get the meaning of high tea]

Savoy or Dorchester, without doubt. If you are lucky you can play spot the celb.

I have a private concierge I use in London, if you want a definitive answer Cove drop me a line and I'll pass on his details.

I'd be interested in that too, will PM you. Also my answer to this question would be: go to Singapore.

These two have fluked Suites Class on SQ coming back from London so they won't need a high tea in Singapore.
i have sent Travel Guru a PM and we are excited by the replies we are getting.
Making the most of a two or four week stay in a big city does require planning. That tends to be Mrscove's area especially in London.

Top floor Fortnum & Mason Picadilly , go around lunch time, enjoy the finger sandwiches (as many as you would like to eat! )
Live grand piano and then lots of sweet things with a great variety of teas YUM !

From personal experience I am sure you will enjoy Harrods, Fortnum & Masons, The Dorchester, The Landesborough, The Mayfair and The Ritz.

Although, for overall price and value I think you will be well satisfied with The Landesborough.

However, my favourite is The Savoy.

I have to confess though, when it comes to the Savoy, my view is heavily laced with nostalgia.

When in London, more often than not I find myself there over Christmas/New Year.

And, it has now become the tradition to have afternoon tea, on New Year’s Day, at the Savoy.

Always one of the highlights of my trip.

Some years ago (prior to the current restoration) on reading the blurb you are given on each of the tea selections I noted that they claimed Earl Grey tea originated at The Savoy.

I know there are those that question this boast.

What’s more they also stated that it was “the best Earl Grey in the world”.

And do you know what? .... It was.

Oh, BTW you should make a booking for all of these.

Thanks for the excellent suggestions!
I had better organize a booking ahead of their arrival.
My niece has worked during school holidays to have her own spending money for this UK holiday so it should be a bit of a blast for her. London is an exciting city despite the weather.

It's getting cold now, so tell them to rug up!

I'd add a recommendation for The Ritz (Piccadilly) or Fortnum & Mason.

They head for London first thing Saturday morning so they are starting to get excited. Tickets, accommodation, 28 degrees card so pretty much all set for school holidays from Perth.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.
