Hi everyone 👋

I’m pretty new to the points game and recently started learning more about credit cards and frequent flyer programs.

I wanted to ask the experts here — what’s the best credit card in Australia right now for earning points (and welcome bonus), especially for people who want to maximise Qantas / Velocity / travel rewards?

A few things I’m curious about:

  • Which cards give the best value welcome bonus currently?
  • Which cards are best for everyday spending (groceries, bills, etc.)?
  • Any cards that are good for airport lounge access / travel perks?
  • Any tips for beginners to avoid common mistakes?

Would really appreciate any guidance from the gurus here 🙏
Thanks in advance!

There is no single answer, it depends on your spend habits, appetite for an annual fee and your income/ credit rating.
I find a good starting point to check current offers is finder.com.au (desktop version is better) or if you just want to look at Qantas
Financial Services - Earn Qantas Points | Qantas Frequent Flyer › Finder may not have all offers and beware they like to apply their filter to only list offers they get a kickback from, but this can be removed.
