Hi everyone,

Im flying with the missus on Thursday CNS-MEL-DXB-ATH. CNS-MEL leg is JQ, MEL-DXB-ATH QF codeshare on EK metal.

I've already jumped on emirates.com and selected seats and got some reasonable looking seats in the very front Y cabin.

But - we're both 6 foot somethings, and the missus has had DVT issues and needs all the space she can get. We are praying and hoping for exit row. This will be slim odds, but a 6 footer has gotta try.

As far as I understand, EK doesnt release the exits until checkin. We probably can not check through at CNS because of the JQ leg, so we'll be checking in with the scrum at MEL and any exit rows would presumably be long gone.

What is the best opportunity for trying for exit row? OLCI on emirates.com at T24? Phone Emirates/Qantas at T24? Im also a QP member - would I have any success asking nicely at CNS QP?

Any tips would be deeply appreciated.

Did you manage to get emergency exit row seats in the end?

Although not a similar experience, I recently asked the EK lounge less than 2 hours before boarding my flight about the possibility of moving me to a row with an empty seat next to me. I didn't expect to be given the whole emergency exit row to myself even though I was told the flight was quite full (but a guy then moved himself to the aisle seat when the doors were closed)!

Yes for half the leg. Check in told me both legs were completely full.. Asked again at the lounge in DXB and they didn't even batter an eyelid.
