I wonder why the take up if the apex seat has been relatively small? Seems to be higher density but still with direct aisle access for all.

Haven't tried any Apax seats but from what's I've seen onboard JL they look a bit claustrophobic.

IMO the QF J suites are very comfortable for solo travelers.

I was checking out the Korean seats only yesterday and thinking the Demilitarized zone looks like an interesting place to visit to get to try out the seats.

I use to think any seat that's not Y is a good seat but SQ spoilt me. I now look at some seats and think, 'Really? Only 23" wide, couldn't you do better?'

I like reports like this, Im not a foodie but I always enjoy seat and cabin pics.

The Apex on JL are very good. The middle seat on the 773 (not shown in the article) looked a bit closed in but the windows were comfortable and very private, aisle seats good too just not so private. 5J on QF 747s was also great as a solo traveler.

I have to say I'm still a big fan of the Qantas Skybed whether flying solo or with a partner. Even better if you can nab something in Row 14 on the 747 Upper Deck - I've been lucky enough to get it on a few occasions, and still can't believe how much space you get!

I experienced QF J for the very first time Wed eve - 332 so I assume Skybed 1 - won't be happening again soon - can somebody please point me back to SQ web site?

MNL-SYD - hard product a nightmare - soft product a delight - except for sparse offerings of warm Champers - flt timing dictated same though.

The reverse herringbone is the 'king' of J seats at the moment. CX have probably the best overall J seat that I have experienced. The window seats are the best (and all are equal unlike the staggered J setups).

The QF Skybed II seat is not bad in general but poor for a solo traveller (unless J is empty). I would take any reverse herringbone J over the Skybed II.

Special mention to EK for one of the worst long haul J seats in the 77W. Middle seats should be banned in modern day J.

Have you experienced SQ Diamond J seats Pleb? Earlier versions substantially more spacious than CX J - latest version far superior - IMHO of course. I was in CX J last Thu - I hate herringbone seats and I really dislike how narrow CX J seats are.

I do a fair bit on the Avianca 787's with their herringbone - not bad at all but still prefer QF Mk II skybeds by far!

Today I finished a few sectors - BOG-SCL on a LAN 767 - not a bad hard product but without the screen up you feel too close to the pax next to you. But good legroom (for us overly tall folk).

Then did SCL-AKL on a LAN 787 - I do NOT like this new cabin - it would be great for normal people but it feels like one of the shortest flat beds on the planet!

I was meant to finish with AKL-BNE on an Emirates A380 - their J seats which I feel offer great privacy, but have much bling but still small. But due to wanting to get home to my family earlier (only 1.5 hrs earlier!) I swapped for the QF126 flight. A tired 737. That flight made me truly realize that ANY of the modern flatbeds etc are amazing compared to some of the older "J" international product you can suffer. Truly dreadful. Having said that the staff were great! :)

It was sort of funny seeing the 737 next to the A380 at gates 15/16 at AKL just before I boarded - made me aware of the downgrade choice I had made. But after driving up to the Sunshine Coast I got that extra 1.5 hrs with my children and it was suddenly all good :)

Due to my previous OW bias, it has been a few years since I have been in SQ long haul J and therefore have not experienced the new J seats. With my slant now towards VA, some SQ long haul flights are anticipated in the future (but EY pricing can be very good though).

I have not found the seat width on CX a problem since they got rid of the 'coffin' seat which was tight around the shoulders. One thing I like about the CX seat is the foot space appears better than others. The new VA A330 J seat is quite nice but the foot space is a bit tight. Foot space is particularly poor in the non-bulkhead seats of the new QF A330 J seat (bulkhead seats are far better and I try to get these).
