Inspired by a similar thread over on the Hilton fourm...

I'm looking to book the Olsen Art Series or the Mantra on Little Bourke over the F1 weekend in Melbourne next year. I have a $400 travel credit from an AMEX that I need to use, as well as a 'spend $300, get $100 back' offer.

Cue the all important question - will I receive Accor Silver/Gold benefits if booking via AMEX Travel? Will the stay count towards my status points and nights?

No

No

I suspect your booking will actually show as Expedia.

I’ve had two bookings via Amex travel in the last 12 months, one Accor and one independent property, both displayed to the hotel as being Expedia.

Thanks Captain. Do you know if the same would apply to bookings made for work through AMEX Global Business Travel?

This is just my experience in booking with AMEX. I have used the travel credit that was attached to my personal AMEX once via AMEX and received no benefits with Hilton. When I ran my own show it was all quite simple, I now work for a multi national organisation and the travel booking engine (global) is through AMEX. I have chosen not to use the Coy provided credit card as the provided AMEX card does not earn points, this is made quite clear when requesting one. Flights are normally billed to the organisation however we have the option to use private cards for hotels and then get reimbursed, depending on billing cycles the employee may have to foot the bill for the short term until reimbursed. I am only assuming that the AMEX system used is the Global Booking system as when you set up your profile you can add FF no. and Hotel reward program no. across many programs. IME and a bit of trial and error if I book through the work AMEX system and select accomodation that was pre paid I did not receive any benefits, points, stays etc. If I select the pay at hotel option I did receive benefits, points, stays as if I had booked directly with the hotel.

Early on I had spoken with the work AMEX line about this and how it actually works was advised it makes no difference what is booked the global contact states cheapest rate on the day is applied. I do not know how much the organisation spends on travel but would guess the AU business pre covid was well into the 8 figure mark and the global business a 9 figure mark.
