Has anyone come across a way to get around the recent change in rules by both AirNZ and Qantas to charge a customer the return points cost for a one way fare.

Have tried to book a one way Melbourne - Christchurch flight - which use to be 15,000 point. Since November last year it's now 30,000 - the cost of a return flight.

Any ideas????

Sure, buy a one-way cheapy on the net for $$$$$.

What's the problem? The T&C are pretty clear on this point.

Problem is that it's the week before Christmas and cheapies don't exist. Shame about the rule change as I had successfully booked one way tickets before for half the return fare.

Swings & roundabouts, mate. Before you got a one-way award for half the points, but you didn't get a minimum 1,000 points per flight.

1,000 points instead of 88 points for NTL-SYD sounds sweet to me.

Simple get a return fare (returning at some date in the future) & get a cheapie one way fare to return from that trip!
