Hi,

Just looking at booking a flight from Beijing to London on BA. Am deliberating between business and PE but after reading a few older threads on this site concerning BA's PE I am wondering whether it is worthwhile. I have only flown from Lyons France to Edinburgh on BA before sitting in coach. Would love to hear any recent experiences regarding BA's PE.

Thanks in advance

Geoff

I'd say if you're going to pay more than you would for Y, just go all the way to J! Have you considered Finnair J to London instead of BA? It may depend on the price you are paying, but sometimes J on less known carriers can be only marginally dearer than Y+ on the likes of BA and QF.

+1!

Have done a couple of BA Y+ and compared to Qantas IMHO it is truly a poor offering from service to seat. On many of the codeshare flights it felt like I had gone from Y to J when changing from BA to QF.

I believe the best 'standard' premium economy in terms of space is offered by Turkish Airlines - 47' of pitch, 2+3+2 across and a generous recline - this is pretty much the same as Cathay/Singapore regional business class (and almost the same as most other airlines' non-lie-flat business class). Catering is also supposed to be excellent from the reports.

Fares exPEK to London are around AUD1665. But of course it's on star alliance, and via Istanbul (and the onward connection is in economy).

BA's premium economy is being upgraded in terms of seats and upholstery and the main course now comes from the business (club) menu. But otherwise, it's not quite the same service in terms of QF for example, which is more like domestic business class rather than upgraded economy.
