Has anybody ever been upgraded by optiontown? I'm wondering if this is a genuine facility or not? It doesn't seem to be very well organised as I keep getting emails asking me to take the option when I already have. However, I can confirm that they do refund the money when not upgraded...however they've had the use of it - sometimes for months.

Just checked out their website. How the system works is poorly explained. Most of the testimonials are from those who have flown with Malaysian or Kingfisher. Still concerned if it is all genuine. Nevertheless, an interesting concept.

Just checked the link posted by moa999. Seems like it is genuine.

I was successful in using Optiontown to upgrade to Business on both legs of a SYD-KUL trip I took on Malaysia in June. I found the experience quite positive.

6 out of 6 successful upgrades (including the SCs and points) ex-BUD with Malev (3 returns to 3 different destinations). No real complaints, although it does tend to prevent online check-in as the upgrades often come through very late, and can be a battle getting the SCs.....

I was in Tianjin (China) railwaty station recently waiting for fast train back to Baijing and I ran into a couple from Brisbame who had just arrived in TJ - they got upgraded on both sectors OOL-KUL / KUL-TSN with Optiontown - I was so jealous.

I am looking to upgrade some domestic Kingfisher flights but not getting any joy from the website as it will not find my itin. I have sent an email but heard nothing back.

Anybody else used Optiontown for Kingfisher?

With MH, MA, and also Kingfisher, quite attractive to oneworld aligned folks.

Thanks for sharing.

In my experience they will soon bombard you with offers to upgrade..... Or try again in the near future to find the booking (perhaps it hasn't been ticketed yet, or domestic flights don't qualify?)

Just as another data point, friends of mine have recently received confirmed upgrades via Optiontown (for travel early Oct ) on MH flights KUL-CMB. Said the upgrade cost was 1/3 of the price of the discounted economy ticket. (I think it was like USD200 or something forr the return upgrade)

I have just recently used optiontown to upgrade 3 sectors of my recent trip. KL - London - KL - Melb and was upgraded on all 3 sectors. They informed me 4 hours prior to the flights from KL to London and back but 2 days out for the KL -Melb leg. It cost me about $2250 USD but small price for comfort and space.
My sister lives in Sweden and uses them all the time for her SAS flights
Will definetly use them again

Just looking into the MH optiontown business.

Optiontown can not find a fare that I purchased from a TA, but I have the 5 digit MH booking code.
Does anybody know how much optiontown charges for a MH upgrade between KUL and HKG?

Has anyone had any luck being upgraded by OptionTown on MH? For the price they asked, it is worth the gamble, hopefully it will clear...

Dunno about KUL-HKG, but for KUL-SYD one way: Y to J AUD564, Y to F AUD784. 100% success rate.

You can enter the MH 5 digit ref on Optiontown and get a "quote".

$141 AUD Y -> J. Touch wood it clears

I was upgraded HKT-KUL, about $50AUD from memory. Not really worth it - the coral lounge at HKT is tiny, the MH J seats are nothing special, and my prawn sambal was cold!! They did keep my glass of sparkling white topped up though.

Worth it just to say I've done it I guess! But wouldn't again.

That would have been on a 734? That is fair enough.
