I've never been to Barcelona (I haven't even been to Spain), but I wouldn't have thought that Dubai had nudist beaches.

I visited Barcelona back in 2009 for a week and loved it, esp the tapas!! It seems to be a very polarisng city...you either love it or hate it. The cruise ships dropping off thousands of passengers in a short period of time is probably the main reason for the people congestion in the city.

Go in winter .... It was perfect over New Year, not busy and very mild. We did a food and wine walking tour through this company and thoroughly recommend. Our group of four were escorted by a local and it was really good fun.
