I checked my calendar and it's not 1 April, but Flightradar24.com - Live flight tracker! currently shows (in orange) the flight path of an helium balloon (identified as that under aircraft type) at an altitude of 214 metres near Bendigo, after its flight began near Hamilton (Victoria, not NSW or New Zealand). When I initially saw it half an hour ago, it was only at 28 metres so it must be 'up, up and away' to repeat a famous Australian domestic airline slogan from the days when we were much younger.

Is this a deliberate attempt by the website to inject an occasional bit of humour?

Looking at the height its at now, its well above any commercial traffic. Would be mighty chilly up there too.

We had one up for days over SEQld, it's visible by the naked eye if clear enough cloud wise.
