On a July Dubrovnik to Zagreb Dash8 flight, my baggage was used to take most of the load of the aircraft when the aircraft landed in ZAG.

Consequently when my baggage came out on the carousel two wheels had been pushed well inside the bag. Unfortunately I wasn't the one that collected the bag and I didn't get to report it until I was back at ZAG airport a few days later. They still issued the damage report which I used to file an online claim with Croatia Airlines.

The weird thing about the claim process was that there was no acknowledgement of the claim, no email, no reference number. I did call the call centre one and they said they don't have visibility into the baggage claims. They added that claims can take 4-6 months to resolve.

The price of the bag was such that it wasn't worth a claim on travel insurance and no damage was made to any of the contents.

Last week I received an email to say my claim was successful and they were paying me the value of the suitcase as declared by me. AFter checking the authenticity of the email sender, I submitted by banking details.

A happy ending.
