Hi guys,

Finally used redemption points for a J saver on A380(yay!)(2 adults + infant -purchased) from JFK-MEL (10 hr transit in singapore).I have spoken to different CSOs re baggage allowance and keep getting different answers.

So looking to confirm with Ff'ers.

Cabin Luggage (Adult) - 2 pieces max 7kg each
Cabin luggage infant - Nil allocation
Checked luggage (Adult) - 2 pieces with a max weight of 23kg each
Checked in Luggage (Infant) - 1 piece max weight 23kg (not including pram-gate check in & portable cot)

Your thoughts ?

PS:Only downside with redemption is 10hr transit time in spore- might book into a hotel- give us a bit of a recovery before final journey. No earlier connections available for J saver

Due to US Federal regulation you are restricted to one carry-on bag and a personal item for your flight from the USA.

As per the link above, since your travel is from the USA then you have 2 x 23kg allowance for checked luggage.

In reation to the infant: "Infants are allowed 10kg of baggage. Additionally, a fully collapsible stroller or pushchair, carry-cot or car seat and infant food items may be checked in without charge."

Thanks for the info. However was checking my itinerary on SQ website and it says as above

So according to this 30Kg per person + 2 cabin at 7Kg per person (adults)

?? Thoughts

In this case I suspect the website is just showing the general Business Class baggage allowance.

As per the link (above) The published business class allowance is 30kg per passenger, however for all US routes the 'piece' concept comes into effect (e.g. 2 pieces with a maximum weight of 23 kg each). The 'piece' concept will apply to the whole itinerary. It only really concerns you at the check-in port, as once the bags are checked through, you don't see them again.

As serfty mentioned, you will be limited to 1 hand carry bag and 1 personal item to pass through security in the United States.

Thanks reading you loud and clear. Too bad SQ is not like MH who allow 2 pieces check in at 32kg per person., Just a question on the personal item - my laptop knapsack will be acceptable right?

Yep, a laptop bag should be fine, so long as it is small.

I regularly take a small laptop bag/briefcase in addition to one piece of hand carry (a small trolley suitcase). In fact that is all that I usually travel with. I don't like checking luggage unless I have to.

Could you please explain how you went about adding the infant booking. I will probably be doing something similar shortly.
