BA Lounges

Hi there,

In mid November, I will be flying BA from LHR T5 to MAN. It's a separate booking from my Qantas ticket from Australia, I'm a Qantas Club member.

I was just wondering how do I go about getting into one of the BA lounges. I'm sure my ticket wont show "QC" in the service information, so do I have to present my QC card at check in and the lounge?

Also BA seems to have a number of different Lounges, which one do I have to use or do I have a choice and whats the difference? They seem to have the Galleries and Terraces, but what the difference is I don't know, their website isn't two descriptive on what the difference is.

Any info would be greatly appreciated

In addition to Qantas Club lounges, you can relax in British Airways lounges (Terraces and Executive Club lounges) and American Airlines® Admirals Club lounges.

To access a partner airline lounge, simply present your Qantas Club card or Platinum or Gold Frequent Flyer card at check-in and again with your boarding pass at the lounge reception.

You will have access to the 'base' BA Terraces/Galleries lounges at T5 and Manchester; that is, the Qantas Club 'equivalents' which excludes the Arrivals Lounge and First Lounge (and Concorde Room) and are known as Galleries Club lounges. From memory T5 has three Galleries lounges, including one in T5B. It's my understanding that BA is in the process of rebadging all their Terraces lounges into Galleries lounges. Some of their lounges have already been updated, some haven't but I believe they are essentially the same. As for access, from memory you will need to show you Qantas Club card at the lounge to gain entry. It's also fairly widely accepted that BA lounge dragons insist on presenting the card, regardless of anything that may or may not be printed on the boarding pass.

You will definitely need your QC card to show at the lounge entry. I have a feeling that domestic flights tend to leave from T5B (but not 100% sure). Either way, the (recommended by BA for domestic flights) lounge in the main terminal is T5 Galleries North, or perhaps the one in T5B.

There is a T5 Galleries South, but I'm pretty sure that that part of the terminal doesn't serve any domestic flights.

The BA lounge dragons will definitely want to see your card. My then-18mth old toddler ran out of a T4 lounge last year; we got barely 3m from the dragon & she wanted to see our card/ boarding pass!!

I had 1 look at the BA website.... and was lost. Its defiantly not as simple as the Qantas Club product.
