Local councils in the UK perform food hygiene and safety checks on places that serve food. The BA T5/Concorde room was inspected in late July and received a poor score (2 - Improvement necessary)

http://ratings.food.gov.uk/business/en-GB/579155

While the actual reasons for the low score aren't published, the following areas are rated:
Food Hygiene and Safety : Poor.
Structural Compliance : Fair.
Confidence in Management : Good.

Plenty of chatter about this on airline forums at the moment, so someone will request the reasons from the local council as to what failed.

Not a good lounge and not good with food hygiene either, there we go... ;)

Isnt it the premier lounge ?

Well it was a good lounge, but apparently the quality of catering went down with a new service provider.

Now this; and that's not good. Hope BA takes notice - they can't have a good lounge with a lousy caterer let alone one with poor standards.

Poor BA. Will have to weather some bad publicity for at least a few days...

British Airways Heathrow lounge service

The Scots-founded firm which runs British Airways’ first class lounge at Heathrow airport has been ordered to make improvements by the Food Standards Agency after scoring two out of five in an inspection.

BaxterStorey was rated as “poor” for food hygiene and safety in the terminal five lounge, analysis of the inspection report by the local Hillingdon Council on the scoresonthedoors.org.uk website shows.

No surprise really......the CCR is nothing special and poorly managed.

Maybe it's time for them to contact DO & CO like TK did with their lounge at IST :)

Well the FOI has been lodged. All should be revealed in less than a month.

I have a flight out of Galleries F T5 on Friday night. Not only looking forward to the slop they serve (and yes... Slop is the best term for what is on the buffet) but also for a bonus food hygiene lucky dip!

Post some 'slop' photos if you can Mal

The 'best' photo was soon after the changeover. Its the cover shot on the Ba lounge food blog...
http://baloungefood.com/ (mmm. Slop. Now with a 2* food safety rating).

Some photos I took a couple of months ago were featured on the blog http://baloungefood.com/blog/18-improvements-in-galleries-first

May or may not take some more photos on Friday. Am tempted to stick up the food rating in a prominent place though!

Even though the Galleries F Refectory was also buffet style before the takeover of BS, I'm sure it looked better than the cover or your photos make out to be. Not exactly sure how...... I assume the pre-BS era tasted better too (even if it was a case of "tastes better than it looks")

Re: BA LHR T5 First/Concorde lounges -Food Hygiene & Safety audit "improvement necess

Trust me... The new catering is not a patch on the old catering. No photos are required if you have been there enough!

Breakfast is getting better again (I mean.. How hard is it to cater a hotel style buffet breakfast!) But dinner is still dire. Will have a look on Friday.

What doesn't kill me improves my Avois collection ;)

Don't you start. You and I both know we've seen them all across different hotels. We know they all can't do it right; we just expect that for a First Class (or high elite) lounge they'd actually take some pride in their work and do it right.

BS...reminds me of a brand of rubber gloves. Maybe they're thinking the whole catering experience could be production lined.

I know BA offered the tender to the lowest bidder, but you'd like to think they have standards (or even BS - surely someone at the company has got to be embarrassed for putting out those troughs).

But dinner is still dire.

Looks like the "Refectory" will move more towards its namesake now (at least, in the context of universities anyway).

Not often The Daily Mail gets anything right but spot on this time

Yep. A true masterpiece. Basically written by Flyertalk sources. There is only a couple of minor innacuracies too.

In T3 Galleries F now, the trays of gloop appear to have been replaced with bowls of gloop

On the upside the Elemis spa attendant appeared very happy to accept my Vanilla WP card for a booking :D
I'm off to get my "Flying Feet" in 10 minutes :)

Foi request has been met and the report released. Very interesting reading... I will post a link to it later. In summary: out of date food was found, food was stored at the incorrect temperatures, a staff member was seen to be handling raw fish and then other food without changing gloves, poor record keeping of staff training, some building deficiencies that could allow vermin to enter, some areas in food preparation area were unclean ....

Wow.
