BA now has paid meal options for economy pax. If you choose this option, it will replace your free meal on board.

Prices are really quite expensive... GBP15-18.

Meals for other classes (including WTP) can be reserved on line... but do not feature any additional dishes. The menu is the same as the one on board, but this will 'guarantee' your first choice.

That was introduced around a month ago, and tbh there is no way I'd pay.

BA catering is usually rubbish, and I can't see these being better (I've only rarely had a good meal in Club World as an example). To pay for a meal that should be free is just naff.

A couple of years ago I flew Delta LAX>NY in Y and there was a paid/special meal option on their website that we selected - it was really good (fresh and better quality) and the serving size was big (1 meal could have fed the 2 of us). There was meal envy with other pax.

If I was flying BA and in Y, I would consider this simply because my husband would say "lets try it".

i agree they look tempting... but let's assume this is one day rolled out across the whole BA system... a return flight from SYD-LHR could set you back in the region of $120 just for these meals... or $240 for a couple. That's a reasonably good couple of meals, with drinks, on arrival in London!

Is this for international as well as domestic flights?

The thing I want to understand, let's boil down the marketing, is this effectively buying a business class meal on an economy ticket? I don't mind the concept.

I've only been on BA once, but the seats were great (8 across on a 777 where others are 9) and the booze was free flowing. Overall a great experience.

Eat on Q is also set up so that they can introduce this in the future if QF are so minded.

Based on an email I received from BA, it seems to be only flights from Heathrow, which is why Sydney is not on the list.

Lol. That sounds like business class to me! (or else premium economy)
