Does anyone know anything about the BA codeshare on CX HKG-KUL? According to the BA route map it should exist but I can't find any schedules for it, either now or in the future. I would have wanted to use in February on a Discovery fare, which is QF/BA round-the-world fare from Europe: it only allows QF/BA/FJ flt numbers but does allow codeshares. It would be the only way to get to KUL on this ticket without paying for a sidetrip (e.g. 3K SIN-KUL). Anyway, just wondering if anyone has read anywhere if the codesare has been axed (and if so why- they seem to still codeshare HKG-PEN which is presumably less popular than HKG-KUL).
Thanks
L.O.

The codeshares do exist, but can only be booked in conjunction with a connecting flight on BA metal. You have to search for the codeshare as a connection to/from the long haul.

I understand what you're saying and did try that but no, there's still no HKG-KUL flight (i.e. if you look on the BA website for LHR-KUL, it says the destination is invalid, it doesn't come up in expert flyer or amadeus either). So does anyone know if this codeshare was cancelled?

From the Hong Kong Airport Website for today:

21 OCTOBER 2008
15:05 CX 721 Kuala Lumpur/ Penang T1 BC 69
Cathay Pacific
Dep 15:17
AA 6105
AmericanAirlines

BA 4561
British Airways

MH 9721
MalaysiaAirlines

Also listed in the BA timetable as a LHR-KUL service http://www.britishairways.com/travel/mobilepda/public/en_au#PDFtimetable . PDF timetable only valid for another week, so will have to wait till the next one comes out to see if the service is still planned for next year etc.

Thanks. I wouldn't have thought to look at the HKG website. I went back and checked the BA online timetable (before I only tried doing a "dummy bkg") and it gives codeshare flights on CX to KUL until 25OCT whereas KUL to HKG connecting to LHR it gives for the Northern Winter schedule as well. So I still don't understand what's going on. But actually I could probably use it doing that way too, just have to see what it does to my mileage. Odd that schedules would be loaded going one way and not the other, unless I'm still missing something...

A search on Sabre revealed the following:

Oddly I can't seem to find any in the other direction. I'd assume that the fare rules would enable you to fly to SIN, then throw in a segment operated by JL/SQ/MH though, as they do for Australia-KUL fares.

Try going to a TA?

I can't see it either in the OneWorld timetable for early next year.

I presume BA havn't finalised timetables yet, or are canning the route (which would be weird due to the flight to HKG from KUL). I suspect things will become more clearer in a few days when BA publishes their next timetable.
